Hello all. Newest permanent resident in Canada today. Had my finalizing interview this morning and received my document! I got married to my beautiful wife on Saturday and can honestly say I don't know which has made me happier - don't tell the missus!

Timeline:
March 2015 applicant
April 2015 1st aor
May 2015 2nd aor
May 2015 went to see MP
June 15th requested GCMS notes (received 15th July)
June 28th wrote letter to Justin Trudeau
July 25th Sponsot received SA
August 3rd - Finalising interview scheduled for 16th August
August 16 - It happened!

The interviewer asked no personal questions, just procedural ones (no dependants, no crimes, etc), signed the form and was in and out in 5 mins ending with 'congratulations you're now a permanent resident'. She advised not to leave the country and said a card would take 4-6 weeks.
The forum is sensational and supportive. Your time will come. Take what positives you can from this, but gripe when you need too. People understand that. But don't let the process get the better of you.

Good luck all.
Congratulations..both for your marriage & landing !!!

Landed just over a week ago and I was told by the interviewer that the card would arrive in 8-10 weeks, just wondering if different interviewers give out different info

Hello all. Please I want to know if it's a good idea to send my upfront medicals now even though they haven't requested for it yet. My sponsor is yet to get SA and I haven't received any confirmation that they received the new PCC I sent them. Im a july 7 2015 applicant. CIC really did the mid 2015 applicants bad...

Another question for inland applicants who submitted their application via courier, when you submitted your medical proof what is the next step? did CIC inform you that they already received your medical result? also when you submit a police clearance they they send you any confirmation? what's the next step after this? THANK YOU!

Hey guys, hoping to get an opinion. I don't have too many details.

We got the dreaded Refusal letter today, which our lawyer informed us of. He said to us that they did not have legal grounds to refuse us based on their reasoning and for us to not be worried (ya right...). My question is, we applied in-land with the understanding that there is no appeal process. If their decision wasn't within the legalities of refusal, can this be appealed be it formally or informally?
Hello amc90, Can you please acquire the letter from your lawyer and post what was written on it or rather the grounds of refusal? Typically a refusal letter will have the visa officer mentioning grounds of refusal as well as what law and amendment under which you have been refused. Yes you can appeal inland but not to the IAD(Immigration Appeals Department) but rather to a Federal court as it ranks higher than either body. Bear in mind, federal appeals take a long time, are very expensive and having a solid lawyer is advisable, and a federal court will not review your case or determine if your marriage is legal or not. You cannot submit any new evidence or previously withheld evidence. A federal court will only and ONLY determine whether the Visa officers decision was correct based on the evidence you provided.

As there was no interview or ask for additional proof or evidence from the CIC, suspect you guys might have been rejected based on criminality, or sponsor being on welfare, or some other technicality.

@amc 90 Also might be worth mentioning that you have 15 days from the date of the refusal letter to file an appeal with a judge in a federal court.

Hey folks, so I logged into mycic and my application was "updated"... the updates had medical as passed and "review in progress" for Review of Eligibility.

Anyone know what this means?

(We haven't heard anything about SA-- CIC has an incorrect email address for my spouse, so we wouldn't have heard anything).
Johninsask, why don't you send a case specific enquiry to correct the e-mail address with CIC. See link below:

So sorry to hear this AMC. What was the reason for the refusal?

Since most Outland U.S. citizens are processed quickly (4-6 months), you might be better of re-applying Outland (even though she is `visiting' you in Canada. As long as you combat their reason(s) for the refusal, it's probably your only real hope...unfortunately.
Hi Ponga. If you get a refusal does that mean you have to leave immediately?

We mentioned our application and our optimism and support towards the Liberal party being elected, and having seen our MP twice. Not complaining just asking if there is any progress or things that could be done to speed up the process. We are teachers and it has taken almost a year and half and were keen to move on with our lives together.

Don't know if he read it before his Obama meetings [;)]but it's fair to say things moved in the 6 weeks after sending it.
Good for you!

I love the three amigos! ;D

Congrats Sawadee-eh! Go celebrate.

Hi June.

Re: Medical (upfront)
We submitted our application and then did the medical three months after. We sent a case specific enquiry and upload the document the doctor gave us. CIC acknowledge receipt of this via e-mail and then saw the update on GCKey week before that the medical had been passed.

Re: PCC
We submitted with the application.
