I would be marrying next month and intend to apply for the PR under the spousal sponsorship category. I have a few questions about it,
1) How soon can I apply for the PR once I am married?
2) At what stage can I apply for the work permit?
3) How many days does it take (approximately) for the AOR ? Is one eligible to apply for the work permit once the AOR has been received?

1. Right away
2. If you apply inland you send an open work permit application with your sponsorship application and then you receive the work permit in about 4-5 months, If you have a legal status when you apply.
3. AOR doesnt take a certain amount of days, in fact some applicants dont receive it at all. The average time is about 3 months.

Is marriage certificate necessary to be sent along withthe application? Because, I read that the in Toronto the marriage certificates are being issued after 2 months after a request has been made for the same.

Yes a marriage certificate is part of the document checklist for an inland application. http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/pdf/kits/forms/IMM5443E.pdf

Had you applied for a 2nd OWP having only received a 1 year OWP originally? Or did they just send you another one with an extra year?

Chuphuc - I wouldn't worry yet, i'd expect your AOR to come in the next few weeks.

The first one granted me two years, same as the second one.
I applied twice due to the lack of $155 payment when I first turned in my PR + OWP applications.

I was finally taping all my envelopes to send them out tomorrow when I had a little panic attack. I know it may have been answered here but can anyone please confirm whether or not I need a police clearance certificate from Canada? I'm applying Inland, am an Indian citizen, and already have my PCC from the Indian embassy. I was going over the instruction guide when I saw the appendix re: findgerprints and got super confused at the last minute.

why other's attach their police clearance in canada when they submitted their application? That's why I am planning to get one because I submit my application last dec 8 without the RCMP clearance...Or should I wait for the VO to request me one? TIA...

I cant check my application status it says it cant recognize it , is this happening to anybody else? I could check it about 2 months ago but now it is not working at all. thankss!!


Update: I was being kinda silly and made the same mistake over and over , lol I figured all out thanks !!
