I'm July 31 2015 applicant. Didn't hear from anything so far. How about other July/August applicants?

We are April 2015, haven't received anything until last month when medical exam was requested (original had expired!). Nothing since. Have AIPs been coming quickly after medical results are received?

An application for Spousal Sponsorship is a condition of the Open Work Permit, so if you are denied you are unable to keep working. Reapplying depends on why you were denied. The letter of refusal will probably give info on reapplying.

The OWP associated with an Inland application is usually issued ~ 4 months after CIC receives the application. This is long before the Inland application has even been looked at (closely) by CIC.

There have been people that have received the OWP, whose Inland application was denied. The OWPs remained valid, since CIC doesn't have the resources (apparently) to follow-up to cancel those.

Hello Everyone,

I am May 2015 Applicant. I had my landing interview today and am now PR! After a 17 month wait, its finally done!

I have one confusion though which struck me after I returned home. Do I need to apply separately for my PR card?

what was your timeline?? not that you'll be back on here to see this post!

I just checked the CIC website, it said decision made, but I don't know how long I need to wait for the landing interview

Hey guys, I got my PR card today (landed on 9/20). The whole process took me 16.5 months from app to landing. I'm sitting here with my infant son on my lap... relieved that we won't be separated. I just hope that everyone else gets through this as well. Canada is beautiful.

My brother is being sponsored by his common-law partner .

His application timeline:
Application submitted: June 16th 2015
AOR: August 25th 2015

They got a call today and was asked to respond by Friday on why they are common-law partners and are not legally married. They submitted pictures of their wedding but they just never got a marriage certificate. They have an absurd amount of proof of the relationship since they've been common-law partners for almost 4 years now and have a kid together. I personally thought it was a weird question to ask especially if it's the only question they had. Any thoughts?

With the above in mind any suggestions on what the timeline would look like? Any speculators out there?

Why didn't they get the marriage cert? Where is he from? CIC may be suspicious if he is from a country that has big traditional weddings and they don't have a marriage cert.

They just never got a wedding certificate, as simple as that. They had planned on filing for a certificate but life took over and he needed to submit the application or else his PGWP was going to expire. It was around the same time where he was swamped with work (Working 60+ hrs a week) while she was starting summer school. The wedding was more or less something for both families.

It's worth noting that even though he's from Yemen his "wife" is not. They met in Canada when he first moved here as a student early 2007! He's been a resident of Canada almost 10 years now!

I really didn't think that them applying as a common-law couple was a big deal. They have cohabitation proof (bills with both names and other similar items) dating back to 2012 and they have a one year old son!

But again what do I know?! He's very nervous, I guess we will find out in the next couple of weeks

Applying common law isn't a big deal, although more proof is required. CIC are prob suspicious as they applied common-law, even though they got married BUT don't have a marriage cert. CIC may be wondering why they don't just get the marriage cert, instead of applying common-law. In their minds, it would possibly make more sense. You have to think about how an immigration officer would see it.

That seems normal. I applied July 2015 and still only got AOR. Inland is a SLOW process. If you get to 16 months and nothing then call/order gcms notes. Did you get OWP?

Call centre told me the same thing and then when I ordered the GCMS notes there were two e-mails requesting updated forms (Schedule A and IMM 5406), e-mails which we never received and which I think the call center should have been able to see since there were notes inputted on this. Order your GCMS notes to make sure.

Yeah, GCMS notes will probably be more informative than the call centre.
