The first time we were asked for proof in February, we sent joint bank accounts and letters that came to the house from friends and family abroad and 3 affidavits from friends... In April they wrote back saying they're still not satisfied and to send a detailed summary of relationship beginning from the time we met until we got married, 15 to 20 pictures (including wedding pics and pictures from the time we applied till now and also letters that came to our home with both of our names on it... so we sent back 30 pictures... letters from Revenue Quebec with applicant's name and the complete lease( which only had the sponsor's name) but with 2 letters from 2014 and 2015 in which the landlord wrote that apart from an increase in rent nothing in the lease will be changed until Nov 2016, when it would be time for renewal (that was to show the reason why applicant's name wasn't on the lease). We also sent a letter from landlord saying applicant and sponsor lives together. ;D

How long did it take for cic contact you after you submitted the first proof of your relationship? in my case i have been waiting about 5 weeks already, stilll have no response i am so worried

4 to 5 weeks for all correspondence that was sent...

Hello There,

We are applying TRV for my husband as we haven't received our landing interview yet, nor DM.

We are travelling on August and we would like to make sure he can return back to canada.

While filling up the form, there is one question that we are so unsure what to answer.

* Have you previously applied t enter or remain in canada? *

As our Spousal sponsorship still on process and my hubby received open permit too is that consider as applied to remain in canada or what/

Please anyone can assist me on this.

1. "Have you previously applied to enter or remain in Canada" - my answer would be Yes , and explain that he has an application in progress.

2.I actually have done this TRV form AFTER I came back to Canada from crossing the border. The open work permit does NOT mean he can go out of Canada and return since it is not supposed to be a re-entry document. You need to have a TRV for him on his passport BEFORE he goes out of the country. I was lucky that the border patrol and immigration officer was lenient on me when I re-entried without the TRV. They can actually refuse him re-entry without the TRV. It also says so in the open work permit copy at the bottom that it doesn't guarantee re-entry. The border patrol that stopped me first asked me if I have my visa when I first entered Canada on my passport and sadly , I didn't already as I renewed my passport so I was bringing the new passport. They said they can stamp the old one if I did bring it even if it expired already.

We are going to apply and submit the TRV application by the end of this month. We are leaving on August 13, 2016 for vacation. Hope we received it on time before we leave.

I did my landing on May 12 and by the average wait time for PR card in the excel tracksheet, I should be expecting to receive the PR card in the first half of July. Now my concern is with Canada Post Union workers threatening to go on strike starting July 2. If this is the case all mail will come to a halt. I have an open work permit stapled in my passport valid till March 2017 and I also have a TRV (sticker in my passport) with multiple entry valid till November 2016. If I go to the USA at the end of July for 1 week and I still haven't received my PR card, will my work permit or TRV be sufficient for me to re-enter Canada? I've traveled to the US multiple times but not since my landing.

If you still waiting for your PR card, you can definitely travel outside country and apply PR Travel document as soon as you arrived in the country you will visit. You do not required TRV as you have landed already,. You only need the PRTD. You are free to come back once you have PR travel document.

My work permit or TRV are still in my passport. Are you saying I cannot use them to re-enter Canada? I'm only going to USA for 6 days so I don't think I will have time to apply for a PR travel document.

The work permit or TRV doesn't really matter if you have landed as immigrant with your COPR. You have to apply PRTD from the country you are going to re enter back to canada.

TRV only works if you are still under work permit or not landed as immigrant yet.

Once your husband lands as pr, he cannot apply for TRV. He however can apply for a PR travel document. I suggest to apply for PR travel document as soon as you enter the country so that he allow time for processing for document while he is in country. Keep in mind, this applies to those who are from non-visa exempt countries.

If husband is from visa exempt, he can return to Canada with his passport. He has to tell airlines if asked, that he is visiting Canada. Once he reaches Canada, CIC can determine at the border that he is PR.
