Hi guys,

Does anyone who submitted their OWP separately from the PR application after the pilot project announced have received the work permit? As fas as I see, only those submitted the OWP with the application got the work permit...

For us, we have submitted the OWP app for more than 1 month, but nothing heard from CIC...

Thank you.
When have you submitted yours? My OWP was received by CIC on January 29th. So I guess 4 months will be done in late April.. Hopefully faster

That's the date they are telling everyone no matter when they sent the application for the OWP, it's a standard line "if you don't receive the OWP by the end of April call us back." It's not much of an answer from CIC.

Hello,

I have been reading this forum for a while now, and finally decided to join.
I applied to sponsor my husband on January 10th, 2014. I received the AOR on February 5th, 2014, and then application was moved to Mississauga on March 10, 2014. Please add me to the timeline. From what I see on your timeline, the second stage generally takes less time than what the CIC website says, which is good news.
I was wondering if anybody has had any experiences with a marriage interview. I would like to know if it is common to have one, and what kinds of questions I can expect if an interview comes up.

Thanks,
Anna

Hi Anna,
Thanks for joining us, I added you to the spreadsheet.
The interview is not so common, there are more than 200 people on the spreadsheet who could have received a request (usually it comes at a time when you should receive AIP) and 4 of them had / will have an interview. It happens when the officer isn't convinced about the genuineness of your relationship, but usually the couple has some "red flags" (significant difference of age - meaning decades; education - e.g. lack of high school diploma vs. PhD; religion, etc). I never heard that an inland couple failed the interview, but it still sucks because you have to wait months to get an appointment. On the interview they separate the couple and ask basic questions from both of them. They can ask about each others family, your everyday life, the place you live, etc

Hi everyone,

I'm trying to pay online. Do I need to pay all three of the below options?

1. Principal applicant (including $75 for sponsorship) $550.00
2. Spouse, common-law partner or conjugal partner $550.00

3. Right of Permanent Residence Fee $490.00

Or is it just 1 & 2?

Please help.

Thanks in advance!

Sponsorship ($75) + PA ($475) + RPRF ($490) = $ 1040 in total

No, but the truth is that you were eligible for MSP within 3 months after CIC received your Inland application.
Unfortunately, most of the employees at BC MSP seem to think that you have to wait until you have AIP before you are eligible,
but they are mistaken.
Only a handful of us have been successful in our fight for coverage prior to AIP.

Congrats on the OWP!

But they don't argue with the OWP, do they? I was under the impression that every province gives you health care with the OWP except Quebec.

BC MSP want to see that the applicant's portion of the sponsorship package is `in-process', which is NOT what their own website says. It says that once CIC has accepted for processing an application...blah blah blah". And, nothing about having an OWP that I'm aware of, but...who knows!

CIC accepts the application for processing when they receive it in the sponsorship package, correct?!
