Hey guys, I just talked with a cic agent over the phone, and he said we are not getting the AOR because we didn't provide the sponsor's email..( but we DID) my application on E-cas is equivalent to getting AOR, he said.. I am not 100% sure what he said is true, but I'll have to positively wait for the next good news..

I have questions for people who got AOR.

1.Do you guys see your application on ECAS?
2. If so, what does it say?(mine says "we received your application on Jan 14, but nothing else)

Yep, same to me, nothing about "We started processing your application..." like for the 2013 applicants.

The same thing for me. My application was received january 14, we didn't receive any AOR, but have my file on E-cas since April 25 using my UCI number, when calling CIc, the agent told me that it's equivalent of an AOR.

CPC-O lists it's email address as CPC-CTD-Ottawa @ cic.gc.ca on the CIC website.

You should carefully document your contacts. If they refuse, you can then challenge the refusal in Federal Court on procedural fairness grounds.

thank you very much for your reply. i found their email addrss yesterday and sent them an email. i heard from some of my friends that this has happened to them too and after almost a week cic sends another message and says they can ignore the previous message! this must be a bug in their system...

Hey! Got our AOR last week via email to sponsor. Can now access ECAS with app number (couldn't previously with receipt number etc). It has our mailing address details & the same as you, "We received your application for permanent residence on ..."

Also, spoke with CIC as we are Quebec applicants and haven't got our CSQ request letter yet. Said with the backlog, could be up to 10months, but unlikely to be that long.. supposedly! We can't get 1st stage approval until CIC send us the request letter to apply to Quebec & get our CSQ.

you should claim what you were on Dec 31 of that year. if you were married or in common-law then claim as such. any kind of discrepancies will surely hurt you in the future.

PS: common-law needs one year of living together, so you are not married on the year you started living together.

that is correct. you will claim as married starting 2014 onwards.

you should still file for taxes. since you wont be working and have low income, your wife can get a bigger tax return through you.

yeah... I just saw a bunch of immigration workers and cbsa workers near my work today, getting coffee. I hadn't seen them in a while, I think they went back to work today! They seemed happy and rested.

(I live in Ottawa).
