Hello,

I am one of the applicants impacted by the long processing times of the family sponsorship program. I have been living in Canada from march 2013 . only waiting for getting my work permit. I have work experience in MNC company. but unfortunately, not being able to get a job and contribute to the Canadian economy because I do not have a work permit. My husband is the only person who is earning and believe me it is very difficult to survive.

I am feeling sick and stressful sometime i am getting health problem but i do not have health coverage also :(

and also imposed by the family sponsorship program, we are not able to leave Canada and visit our family members who are located abroad.

I called to enquire about that, they told me they are working on july 11 applications and i applied in august according to general processing time my work permit should come at the end of this month. but they told me to call after 2 month means in august. it means the total processing time is 12 months not 10 :( :(

This is very very stressful situation for me :(

Thanks,

it has been 117 days for me and still no AOR. there are people who have been waiting even longer and they still dont have AOR. :( how can we check and see if our file exists on ecas? who should log in? the applicant or the sponsor? how can i find the UCI for the sponsor when i call cic? sooo frustrating. thanks everyone. i hope some good news comes to all of us from cic.

the sponsors can log into e-cas with their own UCI and check status if the file is on e-cas.

it's on the PR card, work/study permit, etc. 8 digit number in the form xxxx-xxxx

thanks, but he doesnt have a pr card, work/study permit. he is a citizen born in canada. i guess we have to wait until the open our application and give him a uci?

Your husband should call CIC! Just tell them you haven't got AOR yet and you would like to know your UCI number.

Some agent are more helpful, some of them doesn't even try...
Do you have UCI#? For me, the e-cas for the sponsor and for the applicant became available in the same time, a few days after AOR.

thanks sophieee, good to know that both applicant and the sponsor can see the application online. i have a uci, but i dont see my application there. i guess that means they have not created a file for us yet and we just need to wait. thanks again!

Hey mary, thank you for asking some good questions! I don't think a citizen would have a UCI unless one is assigned to him by the CIC for this application purpose. Us people being sponsored won't have our UCI in the system til after the first stage of approval I believe. If you want to find your sponsor's UCI, I guess the best way would be to keep asking the CIC. What a pain, huh?

Good luck to you and to everyone waiting. I'm really hoping that things break loose soon and things start flowing!

I've started to put together some kind of guide for the inland sponsorship, I thought that I would be great if every useful info could be find in one place. Please feel free to edit and share it:

on the ecas page you can use a number of options I think the best bet is the recipe number from the payment page for the fees.
