I'm not 100% sure about the following, but I think there's a certain amount of time you have to be living in the country (if I'm not mistaken it's 120 days, can't remember exactly), and also only one person in the family is eligible for GST. They took our GST away even tho my husband is the only one working (and we're JUST making the ends meet) in fact we even had to pay them back around $400. Try to read this link, CRA agents are famous to be like CIC agents, in terms of giving correct information http://www.clarityats.ca/pdfs/Tax%20Forms%20Library/rc151%20-%20Individual%20GST%20for%20New%20Residence%20of%20Canada.pdfKae12345 said:I'm not sure if everyone already knew this, but I certainly did not...
I had a conversation with a lady at CRA regarding the HST/GST credits. She informed me that my spouse, even before he had his work visa, SIN, etc, was eligible for the credits. Apparently since he became a resident of Canada he was eligible to begin receiving these credits. I was instructed to send CRA a letter with his information, and that we would be given the credits retroactively since he was a resident.
As being on one income for what feels like forever can take a toll on the finances, I thought that this may be helpful for some.
And congrats to everyone getting good news! It's exciting to actually see some movement!

Thank you for your answer but I want to ask you : What is a pre-landing form and when did you get it ? Haw many days after DM ? and who send it ? the cic office where you are landing ? It is the first time that I read, here on the forum, about a pre-landing form.alexandre1610 said:They will send it to you via email if you receive your DM via email too. Pay it now online and then email them the receipt. Also keep a copy of the receipt and take it with you. Most offices are not equipped to accept your payment.olgabizz said:hey guys, need a little bit of clarification ))
i was reading the forum and noticed that some people fill up pre-landing letter.
i have not been requested to fill up any form. i got DM letter via emal and i got another email few hours after with my interview date.
also my DM letter is saying this (i guess it is a standard thing) :
The Right of Permanent Residence Fee in the amount of $490.00 is required before you can become a permanent resident in Canada. The Confirmation of Permanent Residence document will not be issued to you until this payment is made. If you have not already made this payment,
you must submit proof of this payment to this office as soon as possible via e-mail, facsimile or mail at:
RPRF Payment – INLAND SCLP
CPC Mississauga
PO BOX 5040, Station B
Mississauga, ON L5A 3A4
Email: CPCM-EXTCOM @ cic.gc.ca
Facsimile: (905) 803-7392
Should i pay it now and e-mail it to them or normally people bring it to interview?
Just out of curiousity why do you have to email the receipt? I thought once you pay online its just applied to your PR application?Alurra71 said:Pay it now online and then email them the receipt.
