So go online and apply for a new OWP. Pay the fee again. When that officer gets around to looking at the e-mail (in February!) they'll see you already have a work permit and should refund the fee (so maybe by June you'll get the fee back). Don't wait for CIC, push and move forward.

We had also thought about doing this, but were advised against it by the Call center rep....but then again...what do they know?!? ::)

what did they say to motivate that you should not do that?

As they confirmed there was already on OWP in process, it wouldn't speed anything up to send a new one. They said it could confused the issue and slow down the process if anything.

I don't have too much faith in the Call center reps though.

Maybe if you are able to call, see if you get a different answer?? lol

Hello guys,
Hope someone can help me. My application was submitted by lawyer at the end of October 2014. As of today we didn't get any news/acknowledgement from CIC. We didn't submit all the police clearances (I needed from 2 countries) at the time of application submition because one of the clearances was taking way too long (3.5 months) and we were running out of time. So my lawyer said, let's send the application as is and when u receive police clearance we will send it to CIC. So I received clearance by the end of November ( it was issued November 8th-expired February 8th). I dropped it off at my lawyers office 2.5 weeks ago so they can mail it to CIC. I'm not gonna express my frustration with this lawyer, but this clearance was sitting at their office for all this time ( regardless of my phone calls and emails to them) and just today I got an email from lawyer saying that since there is no file number yet, they can not send it to CIC.
I would like to know if what they are saying is true. How soon do you get the file number? Can anyone please tell me. It took so long and painful to get that clearance that I really don't want to do it again. Thank you very much.
My thoughts in this. I would wait a bit more til january til you get your file number. If at that time, you havent received it yet, wise call is to send your police cert and put important details so they can attach to your file. Reason is, you only have til feb 8 before it expires so might as well take your chances by sending it later january than let your police cert expire in your hands and have not sent it as you are waiting for your file number.

I finished updating the spreadsheet. Since October about 80% of the applicants got full AIP and 20% just SA.

Yeah, even if 20% is much more than the almost zero before, but it's good to see that it's still just the minority of the cases where further proof requested.

And I'm happy to hear that an Aug 27 applicant got AIP, now we can wait for jdjd26, Blackdisc and shyla36 to get theirs:)

Hi ACS,
How many weeks before you got your husband AIP? did they requested following document too? Thanks

I got SA Nov.6, my husband got AIP Nov.17th. And no, they did not request anything additional. No evident reason for the delay between the SA and AIP that we were advised of.
