I had visitor status still ok when I submitted. But in my passport now nothing has been added. Is the proof of having submitted OWP sufficient to say that I am on "implied status" ?

yes, but some people choose to extend their visitor visa for further peace of mind, but IMO it's not really necessary.

I feel like i am going to have a nervous break down.. not sure what to expect..

I haven't been sleeping well the past few nights and hubby is all "it will come when it comes." LOL I seem to be the only one of us that's worrying about it! In the mean time, I'm dying here. It seems like Cirene and I are waiting and waiting!

Your good news will come soon nrajani_99! Don't worry. :)

Your hubby is right, but...whoever said "A watched pot never boils" should be slapped. How can you NOT watch that pot...waiting for it to boil?!?!

Guys,

For those of you who have received OWP, what are the conditions of the permit? How long is it good for?

Can I apply for a TRV once I receive OWP?

Thanks!

trust me you are not the only two waiting.. Check out my timeline. Looks like we sent our applications to the same office. I sent mine in September 2012 and they started processing Feb 26 2013......yup still waiting to.. But I really think it will be within the next few months that this will all be over.

Hi Nervousme.. was there a redflag or issue with your application that took them so long to deal with..

Hi,

I've got a question that about my application. I applied back in August 2013 , filled out the forms needed as listed in the guide. But I assumed that it wouldn't take too long.. and I'd be able to work before my current WHP visa runs out in May.

After reading things here it sounds like I should have included an additional open work permit application form to the submission. But i didn't at the time.. My question is can I send that in now and have it added to the current application? and if yes.. do I need to included all the supporting docs again, police certificates etc, and pay the fee for the OWP application

Any help would be great!

Thank you all for the encouragement. It doesnt say anything on the website about OWP received however, I got a letter/Email from cic dated Sep 13, saying my OWP application will be processed if AIP sails through.

I sent in my OWP application with my whole packet and I haven't heard a peep yet. :( I plan to start pestering as soon as the site updates to show our dates.

There were no red flags, but an email was sent to a representative that we had at the time asking for a non- accompanying dependant child of my spouses to get med's done and we never got it. I called CIC various times asking when they would be sending that request and they never told us that they had already done so. So they actually denied our application in November because we did not respond within the 30 days of the email. Anyhow I had to appeal for them to open the case in December and they agreed to reopen our case the same month. We just got the request for the child medicals last we and they were done today. So since that was all that was missing I am hoping it will be over soon.

Even so this only delayed our process maybe by 2 months. Takes forever and so I know how you feel. Seems like it is never ending.

Hi,

Well, I'm not sure why you assumed that it wouldn't take too long, because unfortunately...it does. :-\

The way that I understand the process, unless you submitted your OWP with your sponsorship application, you will probably need to stop working in May. You can send in your OWP now (and only need to pay the $150 fee), but it will not even be processed until you have AIP. I suggest you write (in bold letters across the top of the application) OWP SUBMITTED WITH EXISTING INLAND APPLICATION THAT IS BEING PROCESSED, or something similar. They have to know that at THIS point, you are not eligible to apply, so if they process it now, you would be denied (because you have not received AIP). There's no need to re-submit any previous documents, as your OWP will only be processed if you receive AIP.

Since you applied in Aug 2013, that could be in June but CIC's processing times change weekly.

Oh, drat! I didn't even think about using my wife's work insurance. We just got our cards a couple of weeks ago.

Guys I found my error :'( turns out I did write 01/09/2012 when they asked when did u become common law I thought they meant after a year passed not when u actually moved in together. Thank goodness the officer asked me to clarify this and didn't right out refused my application. So now I have to pretty much resend my cohabitation proff with the proper dates and throw in some more relationship proff ;D

Thx for all. Your advice guys

Yeah this process is in no way cheap that's for sure! But you do what you have to do!
