For those that have completed a medical exam....how long does the process take? Husband is scheduled at 9am tomorrow I will have to bring him as we are down to only 1 car need to be able to tell work how late I will might be!

I was done 1h and 30min after my scheduled time, including xray and blood sample. I however did not get to go in and see the doctor until 30min after my scheduled time (at which time I had filled out forms and gotten a urine sample done).

Al you can do is wait for another week or so. If you do not get it then call CIC an inform them that you did not receive it and it was indeed mailed to your previous address. Ensure they have the CORRECT address on file and then ask them to mail a replacement OWP to you at the corrected address.

lol, yes i agree we are not all the way there yet... To me Stage 1 is much more stressful as we were always worried about if we had sent enough proof in with our application etc. We applied Common Law and kept hearing many stories of people being asked to provide additional information to prove their cohabitation etc. It will also be nice to have the OWP in hand so that if for some reason (heaven forbid) my fiancée needs to leave the country at least he has a valid status document and not just "implied status".

It may be as simple as having proof that you submitted your Inland application prior to the loss of status (for those that had status when applying).

For someone that was out of status when s/he applied...having proof of an OWP (or study permit) application that was sent WITH the Inland application, is all that I can think of, but...it appears that even that doesn't give a person implied status.

I hunted high and low and couldn't find a direct answer for that Line.a, sorry. I know in the USA, that federal mail will usually NEVER be forwarded, but this isn't the USA. Also, in the US you don't pay the post office to forward your mail, you simply fill out a change of address card and they do the rest for you! LOL

There are not a lot of cultural and obvious differences between the two countries, but one glaring thing for me is the differences in the postal services!

I wish I could help you more on this issue, but I have no idea how it works exactly. Have you gotten other pieces of mail from your previous address at your new address since around the 8th or so? If the answer is yes, then you really can't do anything until CIC can issue you a new OWP on the 19th. If the answer is no, you haven't gotten any new mail from your previous address forwarded yet, then take the rude woman and knock her in the head that with information and ask her to explain exactly what services it is that you paid for when you paid for mail forwarding?

Where are you getting it done? I'd say budget for at least 1.5 to 2 hours. Although if you're at 9am maybe you'll be one of the first to be seen. The actual exam is super quick and the x-ray takes no time. It's just the waiting around that really adds to it.

Getting it done with Dr. Kuhlmann in Etobicoke. He was the only location that didn't have a 4-5 weeks wait time!

I had visitor status still ok when I submitted. But in my passport now nothing has been added. Is the proof of having submitted OWP sufficient to say that I am on "implied status" ?

Is the lab and xray in one location or do we go to a separate location for bloods/xray?

i had to wait at the medicenter for almost 2 hours because apparently CIC is down -.- or maybe the clinic is just bad. (In Edmonton AB btw) doctor checkup itself took less than 10 mins (no joke) - she examined my breathing, asked me if i had cancer, tb etc. examined my tummy and send on my merry way to the xray and blood work. Total it took me 1.5-2 hrs not counting the ridiculous 2 hour wait time in the beginning. And i had to shell out $400

$400 my goodness!! I thought $180 was rather expensive, but $400 is rather crazy!! wow!

Mine was less than 30 mins for the examination by the doctor. Not sure how your doctor works, but I had to go to 2 separate places for blood work and x-ray. In total, it took me 2 hours to drive around and get things done last week. (Please note that I live in Kingston, ON which is not a very big city)

So about 2 hours not so bad then. Thanks!!
