Ok maybe I am just super impatient and my hub's is driving me nuts because he is going bonkers sitting at home all day and just wants to work lol but we sent in his OWP application on Dec 27th after receiving the AIP letters in November. His meds are scheduled for this Thursday. But my question is, if the OWP was sent on the 27th how much longer will it take? will we see an update on our application status on the CIC website that the OWP application was received or mailed out?? or will it just pop up in the mail?

This may be a stupid question but I keep seeing the abbreviation DM - what does it stand for?? Decision made?

Hi JHWife. I sent my applications on Jan 7, and received OWP in Mid November, didn't know it would took that long. I know how your husband feels as I've been there :), and I looked for as many volunteering opportunity as possible during my stay in Canada and really helped me with connecting with people. Perhaps your husband might want to do the same. :D

You sent your OWP in with your application? We didn't send in the OWP app until after we received our AIP letters.
I think that's an amazing idea regarding the volunteer work, I'm going to suggest this to him. The poor guy is climbing the walls lately! He is afraid of getting too comfortable with being at home all the time, he just wants to be active and have a routine again, I totally can understand his frustrations, not to mention the extra income will be greatly welcomed!! ;D

May I ask where or what type of volunteer programs you were part of?

I made a request on November 14,2013 and sent a follow up email at end of December for not receiving my notes. I ended up getting them in the first week of January,2014. You should be getting them anytime now.

Thank you Guri!!

I sent my OWP, Visa extension, Medical etc in one bundle and wait for the best. Going for Copr interview tomorrow! There are lots of volunteer programs in Canada, you can search them at govolunteer. I've been part of so many events to keep myself away from the couch such as running events, watersports, even ivy plants pulling to protect the park! Well you dont get paid from doing volunteer works but sometimes you get starbucks gift card. :D

another quiet day :(.. oh come on don't tell me CIC hit a speed bump..

He has to be VERY CAREFUL volunteering. If it's something that a Canadian could (or would normally) be paid for, that's not allowed and could really cause him problems.

Ohhh...ok I was thinking more through volunteer programs like Canada Food Bank, or Youth programs. He is great at soccer, loves to play and coach....something along those lines? Or is this just a bad idea altogether?

ECAS finally updated to show in process and medical results received which is a relief as I only sent them in Dec. I'm guessing it takes awhile for the E-medicals to update. Not sure why i wouldn't have DM otherwise.

For those of you who have similar timeline as mine, here is some good news...I just called CIC and was told that they have already mailed my OWP on January 16. Their effort to get things rolling are obvious now!

AOR Received: March 20, 2013
OWP Filed: November 28, 2013
AIP Received: January 13, 2014
OWP Issued: January 16, 2014

Thanks JHWife 2011! Good luck with your applicaiton! BTW, have you received your AIP yet?

When I called last Monday after I got my AIP, they told me that it should be another 2-3 weeks before they can get to my OWP application. Looking at my timeline now, it seems like they singled out the OWP from the rest, and got to it right after the AIP was issued.
