Guys, I'd like to avoid creating a new thread just for that but could any November and December applicants that might be viewing this tell me if they've already received AOR and if so, when. Thanks

Hi, I applied on Nov 17 and just called CIC. They have opened applications received on ir before Nov 18.
The lady was horrible and said that I have to wait for the 11 months because there is no time specifying when AOR should be received. This is so frustrating. Now I'm worried about my application being returned or lost (like when my dad sponsored me and they lost it and we didn't figure it out for 8 months) deeply sad. :(

Aside from that we just have to keep waiting.

What is the next step after CIC receives requested docs as of FBI Certificate from states?.

Normally they would ask for your passport ("passport request" or PPR).

I have a question. is there anyone who received their PR and the Permanent SIN. did you have to update your new permanent SIN with all your previous accounts using your temp SIN as in CC and bank accounts etc?

Yes, you would need to update that information with private companies. Governmental agencies will know a connection between your temporary SIN and permanent SIN directly (e.g., CRA).

when do they consider medicals to be "received". Is it right after AIP or close to the end of stage 2? Just wondering about the timeline. If I do them now and we get AIP in 11 months, they won't expire, but if they don't recognize them until the end of stage 2 then they will be very much expired. Thanks for the info!

Actually, sorry for the dual-ish post, but you know what would be extremely helpful?! Could someone explain the whole timeline of events for the process to me or could you point me in the direction of where I could find a timeline? I know I send in the app, if it's deemed complete then I'll get AOR. The next thing is AIP?

you guys are the best!

I Just get a letter from CIC, and asked me to pay the right of Permanent Residence Fee. It means my step 2 is completed?
How does the local office contact me? by mail?

Thanks

So we haven't received any AIP yet. I know it's just about 11 months, but seeing march applicants getting theirs now makes me stress out a little. Should I be worried do you think?

Hey folks,

My work permit arrived today, which is nice. It's valid until the 31/8/2015.

One question... does anyone know if that's what I need to get a social insurance number in Canada? Is it another document that's still pending? Since I'll need a bank account, health insurance etc.

Just bring your passport and your OWP to a service Canada office to get your social insurance number!

I'm feeling so nervous right nowadays......as my application date gets closer I keep thinking maybe I didn't put enough proof maybe I was a bit disorganized.....sigh :'( on a brighter note congrats to everyone who got AIp or have completed the entire process

Time line is
AOR- someone makes sure your application is complete and is put in the queue. (Usually 3-4 weeks)
Interview (If needed happens here)
AIP- Sponsor is approved (your relationship is usually assessed in this stage as well for inland) (approx 10-11 months atm)
DM- The applicant is approved (You medical will show as received in E-CAS at the start of processing if you've done it) (Depends of your background checks/medical submitted)
Landing- Landing interview at a local office (Depends on which office, less than 3 months from DM)

Oh thanks so much!! So when is my medical considered as being received? Will it be at AIP or DM? I'm just trying to decide if I want to send it upfront, wait a few months and do it, or wait until it's requested.

The timeline for app received to AOR is usually about 28 days but considering all the holidays you might be a bit behind but you can check on the cic website on where they are up to

It's very easy to worry, but not justified in your situation. The date is really what you should watch - when the AIP date goes past your application date, then you should start to wonder what's going on. But until that point, odds are your application is sitting on someone's desk waiting for attention and your officer is (unfortunately) a bit slower than other officers working on applications in the same general time frame.

I don't know how they choose to assign files to specific officers, but it is clear from reading this forum for the past couple years that there is some natural variation, which suggests to me that they separate out applications at some point (it's the computer geek in me and this comes from my study of queuing theory) and thus introduce a bit of variability in waiting times before the application is reviewed.

Your time is nigh.
