I'll be calling on Thursday, with very low expectations of anything happening.

Why i still could not get into e-cas using my UCI number? :'( :'( :'( it makes me really worried..

Anyway does anyone can explain what is GCMS or CAIPS?

Do we need to order it?

Thanks,

GCMS = "Global Case Management System"
CAIPS = "Computer Assisted Immigration Processing System"

These are the names CIC gives to their computer software/system for managing immigration applications.

GCMS replaced FOSS and CAIPS.

FOSS = "Field Operations Support System"

FOSS was used for in Canada information (like refugee, work permits, study permits, etc.), CAIPS for outside Canada information. GCMS does it all (and apparently took a long time to develop since it started back in 2004). GCMS is based on a relational database. Were I to guess, I'd bet it is Oracle, but there are a few other large scale databases that would be good candidates for a task of this size and complexity. Plus since they used Fujitsu Consulting I wonder if they didn't use Symfoware (Fujitsu's RDBS package).

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/resources/publications/dpr/2012/08.asp

From looking at electronic case notes it is very clear they used a relational database, as the notes these days look like the results of a SQL query turned into a PDF report (and then redacted by the ATIP office).

I stopped thinking about AIPs getting approved anytime soon. Time will go faster if we don't think about it - at least that's what I'm thinking. I find it better not to worry at all right now and just take it as it comes lol. It's Friday and i am getting a cold beer out of the fridge and hoping this weather will change for the better! have a great weekend all :)

Exactly! I'm trying to make use of the fleeting Northern Québec summer while it's here, hiking with friends and doing other stuff outdoors. Trying to remember to be appreciative of our time together while the hubby's here (he's military, and he spent fully 6 months of our first year here away from home on course in Ontario or Alberta). I'm studying French more often, trying to have the best base possible for when I can finally get into a class. Just generally trying NOT to think about my PR frustrations. It's mostly working.

That sounds like a good idea. Seriously.. Thinking about all this PR stuff makes me go insane from time to time lol. So I started blocking it away, don't even check ecas maybe just once in a while! No kidding, that must be difficult.. Like 6 months straight? Yeah I finally manned up and joined the gym so if in any way I'm feeling down or frustrated that is the best way to shred it off lol :)

I allow myself one check of ecas per week. Though I can't help always being a little nervous/excited, then disappointed, every time I check the mail.

Guys, how do you know that the file has been transferred to a local office? Does it show on ECAS?

Not sure if it shows on Ecas but they usually inform you in writing or they make a phone call to clarify some issues before transferring it.

Well, the phone call went exactly how I thought it would.

The immigration agent was nice, of course... but I asked him if there was any movement on my application, and he said what we all know already. 'Unfortunately, they're still working on October's applications, so they've not gotten to yours yet.'

I asked him if he knew when the delay would be over with, and he wasn't able to give any more info. I'm a bit disappointed, but its basically what I expected him to say.

Are you going go reach out to your MP? I'm going to call on thursday or friday and then next week I will contact my MP as well.
