Hi Everyone,

I sent my appilcation on the 10th of January and it was received on the 14th and My wife got an e-mail from CIC on 9th of February to confirm they got my application on the 14th of January, and also included our file number, she is the one sponsoring me. Let's pray and hope the process goes by faster this year. I wish everyone all the best and speedy processing. :)

Hi aakpawan!

You got your AOR in under a month!!?? I'm amazed at seeing some of the time frames for receiving the AOR. I should get mine within 10 days if I'm lucky enough to be on your timeline!

It seems like people are getting AOR's within a month! That's great news for all of us. Processing times are definitely much lower now compared to last year. Submitted my application on Jan 21, reached CIC on Jan 22. Seems like I should be getting the AOR in the next 10 days! 8)

This is probably near impossible to answer, but do you think these faster processing times for AOR's will result in faster processing times for AIP as well? Or will it probably still take the full 6 months?

Hello everyone,

I asked myself this question too. I've been hoping it means faster processing times. CIC received our application January 2, 2013. Got AOR February 4th.

That's awesome Allydx! I'm hoping it means faster as well. I don't think anyone can really answer this for us. Time will tell once people start getting their AIP's and we can view the timeline to help us out. Your about 3 weeks ahead of me so I will be watching your status closely! Make sure to let us know when you get your AIP!

Hi, I'm new here and we're just trying to wade through the mountain of paperwork. I am applying to sponsor my common law partner and I hope we can get our application in by the end of February. This website seems to have a ton of information, at first we thought we would need a lawyer but now I think we can probably save that $3500 fee and do it ourselves.

He has a work visa right now, so I think our situation is a bit different than most? But we would prefer it if he could get an open work permit and not be tied to one employer, so we're planning to send in the form for that as well.

He has had two abandoned applications for permanent residency under the Provincial Nominee program in the past (ended up changing jobs/being laid off after receiving AIP) so I hope that doesn't cause massive confusion in Vegreville.

For bank statements, do people send in ALL of them, or just the most recent? Or maybe first and last? We have had joint accounts since 2009 so printing them all seems crazy.

Hi Everyone!

I'm new to this thread and am not applying until June/July. My work contract ends in my common-law partner's country (Cameroon) in June and then we're planning on having him enter Canada an a tourist visa, then apply inland.

Question: For his police check, should we do that before we leave his country? My concern is that it will expire in 3 months. If that's 3 months from the date we apply, we should be fine, but if it's 3 months from AIP we might be in trouble. Does anyone know how they measure the 3 months?

Second question: What's AOR?

Third question: Is entering as a tourist with intent to apply for residency a problem?

Thanks! (So excited to join the thread.)

It's the date CIC receives your application. The actual PCC is valid for 12 months from the date it is issued, as long as it is received within 3 months by CIC.

Acknowledgement of Receipt

It's definitely a grey area. The purpose of a tourist visa is to visit so if the person tells the officer the actual goal is to remain, a TRV or entry would be refused. When coming on a TRV to Canada it is best to have a return ticket (it can be a refundable ticket) with a definite date within the proposed period of stay. Once in Canada, the visitor could decide to change plans and stay in Canada.

From a legal perspective, a border officer hearing that someone coming to Canada on a TRV did not intend to leave would have a duty to refuse that person entry.

HI all,

Quick question.....When we recieve our AOR, will we recieve a case number?

Just asking as I'll have to send in my OWP application as I forgot to include it in the package. A case number will be of use to put on the OWP application.

Thanks
