I forgot to ask one thing. Where and how much did you pay for the medical checkup. and which form should i fill up for work permit?

We did the meds at Dr. Kuhlmann's in Etobicoke on Burnhamthorpe Road. Total was $140 for the medical and $36 for the x-rays.
We used IMM 5553 to complete the OWP application.

This part should be comforting to those that have received AOR:

Initial receipt and coding

An initial process occurs on receipt of every application, including those involving Quebec applicants. This process includes information gathering, record creation and administrative steps to ensure that initial evaluation can begin. This process includes, among others, the following steps:
• verification for completeness;
• return to sponsor, if application is not complete, or acceptance by date stamp receipt;
• creation of both a paper and electronic file;
• acknowledgement; This would be the A in AOR...right?!?!
• request for any support documents or information that may be missing;
• verification of and possible printing of the FOSS and/or CAIPS record; and
• electronic transfer of biodata information to CPIC.

So, it appears that they do check for completeness BEFORE issuing AOR.

However...for Common-Law couples, the following appears to be incorrect, or since revised:
In the case of a common-law partner, documentary evidence should include:
• a statutory declaration of common-law relationship (included in the application package);

This is NOT listed on the Inland checklist and is only required for those that have a co-signer.

Hi Ponga. I really hope this is true. But ive read some posts who received AOR and then get their application back or a single doc because of incomplete signature or not updated document. Some even get the returned docs months after. Although it is comforting to know that some still get AIP even if they have to still have to update a certain doc ( ex background dec). But, we dont want to worry about that, we have to stay positive that everything is complete and the good news is coming soon, very soon.
And Harmin, haha, you made me laugh there too, imagine, if they are now working on August, Il probably faint everyday when i check my email.

Ok I need to figure this out. If I go and get a passport now with my new last name (none of the application was done in that name except for my husbands stuff) what do I have to do to not cause any trouble when I bring my new passport to the landing interview?

I'm also concerned about my temp Sin and work permit that again are in my maiden name.

I'm just waiting for them to make a decision on my application now so I feel like time is running out.

I had a rough wakeup call today since I no longer have two pieces of ID due to going ahead and changing my name back home but not on my passport. It made me realise how troublesome this is all going to be with two names!

Harmin, I did the same thing...listed my lawyer's address in Toronto as my mailing address, although we live in Winnipeg, which is listed as my home address. Your landing office is based off where you live, so you will land in Vancouver. I will let you know if it causes any problems, but I don't forsee any.

Singapore COC - for future reference for people needing police clearance cert from Singapore


Alright, finally got my response and tracking number from SPF.

Basically, I mailed it out from Canada on Jan 7th, and it reached Singapore January 14th. Emailed SPF on Feb 4th (Canada time), and received response from SPF Feb 5th with tracking number. COC mailed out from SG on Jan 30th. Do note that there is a Chinese New Year holidays in between.

Submitted AIP letter from CIC, along with the application form from SPF (on http://www.spf.gov.sg/epc/cert_issued.htm), and draft for payment, passport photocopy, passport sized photos (2 pcs) and finger prints done at local police station.

So right now, it is all dependent on Canada Post.

Will update when I receive it.

Hope this helps anyone else who needs COC from Singapore.
