Btw the email my hubby received was in March 21st, so is this my AOR? I checked our status on sponsorship and it said in process and started processing it on March 20th... So what does the processing started in layman's term?

Sorry for too many questions, I kind of need to familiarize myself with the terms here because I always feel lost when I read someone's post and not understand. :) I'm like.. Ok, so is it good or bad? Lol. Especially looking at someone else's timeline. :)

@ mrsc08 AOR stands for acknowledgement of receipt which is what you received on March 20. It means that VO has received ur file and when your status shows 'In process" It means they have opened ur file and started working on it. Now later on when u check ur status and Sponsor status shows decision made that would mean that the first stage has been approved(AIP) and the applicant is eligible to apply for OWP.

Hey gurl3577,

It's when your stage 1 has been approved that the chance for interview really decreases. So one you have your AIP.

Thanks gurl3577! That was very helpful, I appreciate it :)

Is there anyone here who was asked to provide further documents by the VO? I guess within that 6 month period, they can ask for more docs.. Could be at the start of the app or towards the end of 6 months. There would be no guarantee one is safe in terms of this.

@ mrsc08,

My Alberta Health Services will expire on 19 June 2013, hopefully I will get "Sponsor Approval" before 19 June, otherwise I have to stay healthy and re-apply after I receive it I think :(
Why don't you just extend it. AB is very generous on health benefits - as long as your spouse is eligible and you are living with your spouse, they extend benefits to you. I've seen several cases of OUTLAND applicants living with their spouse in AB and getting health care benefits through the process. It does mean you have to be added to your spouse's account AND it means you must either be married or qualify as common-law under AB law (FIVE years last I checked, not the one year CIC needs).

Guys just to give hope to everyone who's worried about CIC is still working on October 8, 2012 apps. I've a friend who applied for spousal sponsorship like us and as inland app too. They submitted theirs on November 2012. When they checked their status on the CIC website, it still says in process. So her hubby called customer service and the agent said anytime this month they will receive a letter about the decision in regards to wether the sponsor got approved or not.

No further documents was requested either the whole 7 months. Lets hope for a positive AIP for her :)

Interesting. A similar thing happened to me as well when I called in today. They said I should be hearing soon about my file and I will be told a decision (About Stage 1 I am assuming). I would take it at face value though and wouldn't read too much into it as I am sure they say that to all applicants as they are just repeating the timelines they have been given by CIC.

But hockeyfan, you just applied the same time as me according to the timeline showing in your profile. With her, 7 months has passed so according to other applicants' timeline, I've noticed 6-7 months before they decide wether the sponsor is approved or not. I feel positive for her, because nothing further was required from her and like I said its been 7 months now so hopefully she'll receive what she's been waiting for :)

Hi everyone....

I was hoping I could get some reassurance/advice with my application.

I am living in Quebec with my common-law spouse and sent our application to Vegreville in January 2013. The only communication I have received since was a request for further information (work history, organizations, address history) on February 15th. I mailed the information a few days after it was requested.

I have been reading about others applications and looking at the spreadsheet detailing the progress of applications. I have not received an acknowledgement of receipt (or was this not sent, as the letter requesting further information acts as notification my app has been received?). When I log in to view the status of my application on-line the only update is 'Application Received: January 28th 2013'

Should I have received other correspondences or should my status on-line be at least 'in-process' by now? Judging by the spreadsheet people received AOR and their application changed to 'in-process' extremely quickly after it was received :s It has been over 4 months since they received my app now.

I called CIC and they just reiterated the 6 months plus 8 months processing times as stated on the website.
Hi Stereogram24,

I also received an email from CIC requesting for more documents (well, revised application since I missed one timeline on my history).

One day after the email came in asking for the revised document, my spouse received an AOR email confirming that they have received our application.

I live in Ontario. Therefore, it is probably (slightly) different in Quebec. But I hope you hear from them soon.

Hope this helps...

So just reading some previous posts on here.. U are all so helpful :D
My application was received on Nov 16th
But it still shows under the status 'application received'
I gather from others on here that's unusual given the time they have had to process it.

I'm also wondering when they will change that Oct 8 date.. I need an owp by July 17th :-X

Can someone fill me in on the Right of Permanent Residency Fees? Is this what you pay after CIC tells you you've been approved or do you have to submit it with the application?

Thanks!

It is the fee you pay after they approve you for pr but they generally advise you to pay it along with your application to prevent further delays.
