Hello Guri,

I was wondering as to the information you just mentioned.
Is there any options that I could upload any supporting documents when I apply for an OWP through online?
I was kinda worried about the medical exam since we did the exam 3 months later after submitting the application; however, I have been waiting a medical update on ECAS since October.
So I think of how I could submit the confirmation of medical exam and other supporting documents if required.
Typically, "Medicals results have been received" line is added after receiving AIP.
You shouldn't include any info. which is not being requested for the OWP app. in my opinion. There is an option to include a letter of explanation if you need to clarify anything.
My app. was received May 23 and doesn't show medical results have been received yet.

Thank you! I figured it out this morning and updated my profile.
By the way, frenchwapiti, we have the same applied date!!

Oh very true....but when we asked CIC and they said nope can't do it online and I see other responses with people saying they were told the same.....you really don't want to chance it! Hubs was bummed because I mean 53 days seems like forever....I hope for future people's sake we find out that it can be done online as it would have been so much faster.
Yes, but the other member didn't receive their AIP yet. I guess, we will have to wait until someone posts about their experience :)

True! Its just a tough experience, both my husband and I have no idea what we are doing half the time in this whole process...it can be so overwhelming! Well its already been over a month since the OWP app was mailed in so we are already 75% of the way there, I will just kick myself in the a$$ if we could have submitted online!

You had to mail it since you didn't receive AIP at that moment.

I had to mail it because I sent it after they had received my application and I had to add on the top of the form:
Open Work Permit - Application for permanent residence in Canada - Spouse or common-law partner

If you go on the CIC website they have a questionnaire to confirm if you are eligible to apply online for a work permit. One of the options is 'applied for permanent residence in Canada and having first stage approval' (which I assume is AIP). Maybe try another CIC person.

Thanks for clarifying, yeah first stage is AIP.

Yes, this only applies to those who want to send their OWP after the initial submission of the app. but before AIP.

Note that this is now the brave new world. As of January 20, 2014, inland applications are sent to CPC-M and CPC-M does not accept temporary status applications. Thus, open work permits and that long period of implied status are a thing of the past it would seem.
