It's a guessing game these days. I checked the CIC page for processing times in the US (NY: 18 months / Los Angeles: 22 months) and this is based on a complete package, while inland is 11 months and CIC seems to be working faster.
Most US. applications are processed in Ottawa. Files needing extra attention (like an interview) are sent to LA and NYC so looking at their times is appropriate for complex applications.

The best source of information is the open data project. It publishes 20, 30 50, 70 and 80% times for all offices and types of applications.

 Can someone please explain why we have 2 "Confirmation of application to sponsor a member of the family class" emails 5 days apart from CIC with 2 different application numbers and UIC numbers?
I almost deleted the second one thinking it was just a repeat of the first when I realised it had different numbers.
My husband seems to think its because we submitted an OWP at the same time.
1.Does receiving said email/s mean that they have started working on my application or is it just "received" by the right person and thrown in a pile?
2.When would I get an "application in progress" email from them, roughly 11 months from now? Or is an acknowledgement of receipt technically an application in progress.
3.When should I start obsessively checking my status online... ;D

Check both of those numbers as one could be for your husband (sponsors UCI) and one could be for You (applicant).

sorry , got a question to ask .. cause me and my bf we have consultant to run our case, but do we need to order GCMS ? or just let them do their job ??and if do get GCMS how many month after we sent our file ?? sorry i know this dum question ..:p
That is most certainly not a dumb question!!

GCMS are notes that the officer makes while reviewing your case I believe.

Unless you have a complicated case with red flags, it can help to order them and see what the officer’s thoughts are on your file, but otherwise you wouldn’t really need them unless you are passed the standard processing time, and want to see why, it is not necessary.

I also question the same thing though….since our file is not the most straightforward and could have some issues, I wonder how long I should wait to request my GCMS? I know there isn’t any point to request them too early as there won’t be anything much there, but how long is long enough to wait??

If I send in my application without the FBI certificate (cause it's still not here ??? I do have my state certificate which I did just in case) on the document checklist do I leave a note that I will send it later on? Cause I know if somethings aren't checked as they should be on there they might send it back or reject it... :-\

I checked both the application numbers, one said Application in Progress Oct 14th, the other had nothing show up. That was quicker than I thought seeing as they received the application on the 25th Sept. Feeling a little better about picking Inland over Outland.
Does this mean we are in for a long, LONG wait now? ???

Congrats!! We have just recently sent out the application. I can't wait to get them started.

By the way what means App.filled? Is it when you sent it out?

yes, note that you will send it at a later time. As soon as you have a UCI number to correctly match it to your file then send it immediately from there. Remember it is only good for 3 months from the date on the printout from FBI. CIC has GOT to receive it before that 3 months is up.

Hello,

I have been a member of this forum for quite some time (since my own pr application-dad sponsored me) and have followed your thread for some months now.
We will be sending our spusal application for my husband in a couple of weeks and wanted to say congratulations to all of you who have gotten through the process.

It is a difficult situation.

Cheers!!
