Wow congrats UKZippy!! That's awesome news. Was it sponsor or you who got the email and what does the headline says? I am afraid it's ending up in my junk in my hotmail account and I'll over see it!
Morning Line.a,
Thanks for the congrats, so excited, couldn't sleep properly last night lol.
Email headded was: CPCV Email Communication - Permanent Residence Application

Thought it strange I got an email about getting a medical before I got the above email! Also I got these emails before my wife, who's sponsoring me, got her emails!!

I bet you couldn't, I'd be running in circles if I were you (and when) it's my turn haha. I'm happy for you, means that there really is some light at the end of the tunnel!

Sounds great just in case I'm not seeing it that would be bad! Yeah seems a little odd but I guess that's not bad! At least you can start working and what not now :)

HI all,
Just thought I'd share some good news......

Today I recieved THE A.I.P. email....woooohooooo

Now I have to go for a medical, police check etc. But at least I can now get an OWP...yesssssssssss

I'd just like to say to those who are waiting, the CIC website says working on applications revieved on 11 November 2012, well ours was recieved on 11 February 2013!!! So it would seem that there are exceptions to what the web site is saying.

Goes off to do happy dance with a beer!!!!!
Congratulations. This is great news. We're happy for you. Can you continue to post on your activities after DM.

@UKZippy,

I wonder if you sent out the medical exam within PR application or not. Or you didn't do it and they asked you to do?

Cheers!

Do you think it`s just pure luck that UKZippy got his AIP before January 2013 applicants? I find it odd, but nonetheless, congrats to you!

Hi. Congrats on the AIP! :) Happy for you!

Has anybody here filed an Inland PR with OWP, and did not bother to renew their expiring TRV? I am confused on what to do, since i already filed my Inland PR with OWP, and has an existing TRV to expire on Nov 2014. SHall I extend my TRV? I am also due to give birth on december here in canada, so i dont wanna risk being fleed out of Canada due to any illegality.

Please help. Thanks!
A TRV is used for permitting you to travel to Canada, so if you don't plan on leaving you won't need a new TRV. With an OWP pending you are on implied status - which means you don't want to leave anyway. So you are fine status wise.

Once you have your OWP you can apply to CPP-O for a new TRV if you want to travel.

The reason people are extending there visitors visa is to be eligible for health care. I know this is the case in Alberta - you cant get health care under Implied status. Where as in BC you just need proof of application for PR. (this is my understanding of it) Im not sure how you are going about medical, but you should look into that for your province.

Has anyone extended there visitors visa after it has expired? I am currently looking into doing so, although I am unsure of the fees my visa expired July 24th 2013 it says online you need to pay a fee of $75 - which is fine although it also mentions if it has expired you need to pay an additional restoration fee of $200. When I spoke to CIC Call centre a week ago he told me I need to pay just the $75 and write a letter saying I am under Implied status and why ect. Although looking online it makes out it will cost $275 and if I only send in the $75 they will ask for an additional $275. Any help would be appreciated. My health insurance is running out next month and I was hoping to be covered by Alberta health care. If 11 months is correct then I should receive AIP in March/April.

First, have you checked with Alberta's health folks to see if your AOR is not sufficient? I know that it generally is here in BC (and AB is usually more generous with health care than BC for spouses).

But the CIC CIC Call Centre person was correct. Send a copy of your AOR (or fee receipt if you don't have the AOR yet) along with your VR extension request and explain why you want actual status rather than implied status. You aren't out of status, so you don't need to pay the $200 restoration of status fee.

Good luck!

If you live in Alberta it is worth it to extend your visitors visa $75 (I also live in Alberta but I didn't know that earlier).

Because when I applied PR, I sent out an open work permit to make it "implied status" (at that time the 1st step was 6 months but now it changed to 11 months).

By the way I just hung up the phone with The Co-Operators regarding extending my travel insurance which I bought it since June 2012 & it cost $$$.

Hi waitingkiwi,
I extended my visitor visa after it expired, I had to pay almost 300 dollars (i believe). I think it is worth because you get health care and you could change your status to student or work permit (as long as you are eligible for them by yourself) just sending your application to the US. I live in Alberta and you need active status (not implied) to get health care.
Hope it helps :)
