I was wondering how to send additional documents after submitting the application ( ie. medicals, police report etc). Does it go to the same address with the original application? And how do we know if they made their way into our file?

I am planning to get my medicals done prior receiving my first stage approval and would like to send it right away.
Thanks!
I sent my app without medical or police certificate. I called CIC to ask if I could do the medical before they requested it, as I didn't want the lack of medical to slow my app down. The CIC representative at the call centre advised me against doing so. I was told that the results may not be properly matched up with my file.

Having said that, I did my medical anyhow. You'll need to do an "up-front medical" as though you haven't sent your app in yet. And you may confuse the doctor's office (I did! And my doc reiterated CIC's warning, saying he couldn't guarantee the results would be matched to my file, since I was doing it "wrong".). Make sure to make a note of your UCI on the form. There's no field for it, I just wrote it in.

I sent the form the doc's office gave me to the same Vegreville office to which I had submitted my app. I sent it with a cover letter listing my UCI and my husband's.

Again, if you do the medical after you submit your app, but before CIC requests it, you risk having to redo it if the results don't get matched up with your file. However, it worked out for me, and I'm SOOOOOOO glad I did it that way, as I got AIP and DM at the same time, which couldn't have happened if I didn't have a medical on file.

Good luck!

No, we never got an AOR. When I called CIC to find out what happened they told me the meant to send me the AOR but the email was never sent (Internet problems) anyway they confirmed that they started processing my appl on April 16th and that's the date I supposed to get my AOR. That's why my husband doesn't have an UCI.

Oh another question, when I go to check my status in eCAS it says: Application Received (but it says that since April) does your status say the same?
We missed our APR because of an email problem. If your husband calls into CIC, they will give him his UCI. They gave me mine verbally since we missed our AOR as well.

I know me too. I sent copy of the paper the doctor gave me attached to my application. I have a copy as well. I'll try to give them a call

You are allowed to go to school for up to 6 months. I'm a chemist and I am currently taking a course in GMP/GLP @ University of Toronto. Find something that will help you when you start looking for a job. Learn French, lot's of libraries have free workshops. I took cake decorating classes too. I learned to knit and crochet (I'm making baby blankets and stuff for my baby that I'm planning to have maybe in two years :) ). Get into fitness, hard. Or explore new lifestyles like raw vegan or do some cooking classes.
There are tons of options, these are some of the things I tried. Trust me, an idle brain is the devil's workshop. Keep yourself busy and you'll see - time flies. Good luck.
Thanks Milena.

I'm actually already learning HTML and JavaScript programming at home. But the thought of waiting for 11 months just to get initial assessment done is mind-boggling.

I know the wait time, plus being unable to work seems daunting. But the benefit of inland is that we get to be together with our Spouses'/families.

It's a decision everyone has to make. If you are able to spend the time apart, the Outland *may* be faster. But not in all cases. Some of the Visa offices have a pretty long wait time. Plus, after the strike, I am guessing it will take them awhile to get thru the backlog.

The inland applications from 2012 are getting Approvals VERY quickly at the moment. Take a look on the 2012 Inland thread. There are AIPs and DMs coming in multiple times a day! :)

What's AOR and AIP???

I sent my application on Aug 16th and received an e-mail from CIC that the application has been received on Sep 10th.
Is this considered as AOR?

Yes! Congrats on your AOR.

AOR = Acknowledgement of Receipt
AIP = Approval In Principal, which is currently showing on the CIC website as the 11 month wait time. Once AIP is rec’d, if you applied for an OWP (Open Work Permit) when you sent in your papers, you can get approval for this and begin working, as well as apply for Health Care! :)

No prob! It takes a bit to pick up all the abbreviations everyone uses. lol. I don't know all of them yet either :)

Looks like we applied right around the same time! Best wishes to you on your Applcation….and welcome to the wait!

This forum is great, not only for info, but some days it’s just nice to know that there are other ppl experiencing the same thing you are.

No one at work was quite as excited as I thought they should be when I was able to sign into my eCAS….lol

I just went to look Inland application 2012 pages and it seems like things are finally moving along pretty fast.

Does anyone know the time frame for processing the extending your stay as a visitor? Just wondering if it is worth it as I have 5 months to wait for AIP but hoping to apply for health care. Since I cant apply online - as my visitor visa ran out 3 months ago and it says i have to pay 200 to restore it. Which I dont if I send it to Vegreville its the normal $75. Just wondering if anyone knows how long vegreville takes to process this lol ??? Vegreville ehh

Ehh? Feeling Canadian today? :)
I'm in the same boat my extension ran out in August. I don't bother I'm sure us who applied earlier this year will get AIP soon enough. Glad to see other people didn't extend their stays furthermore.. It was so confusing for me :)

Yeah I know its confusing it feels like AIP just doesn't get any closer so I might try and extend just this once lol see what happens. Hopefully it doesn't screw anything up or confuse anything? Actually what happens when you get a visitors extension? Do you get a letter or email of confirmation? You dont have to send away your passport for another stamp do you? ???
