Hi Everyone ,

I just received the following email today from CIC. By the way I am a Nov 27 2013 Applicant.

Can you tell me whether is an AIP or DM ? What is the next step ? What do i need to do and how long it is gonna take ?

It has been determined that you meet the eligibility requirements to apply for permanent
residence as a member of the spouse or common-law partner in Canada class. Please note that
a final decision will not be made until all remaining requirements for becoming a permanent
resident have been met. These requirements include medical, security and background checks
for you and, if applicable, all of your family members, both in Canada and abroad, even if they
are not applying to join you in Canada at this time. You cannot become a permanent resident
until you and all your family members have met these requirements.

Finally!! i got my landing interview at etobicoke office, you all have been a great help, i wish luck for everybody else who have been waiting for their file..

Hi guys,

update regarding my case.


I received email yesterday from etobicoke office regarding the landing interview and it is scheduled for this thursday (may14th.)
app recd - dec 9, 2013
SA approval and medical request- 1 april
medical done - 2nd april
medical recd - last week of april --(doctor send the results very late)
DM - april 29th
landing email - may 11th
landing interview - may 14th

Hey we share the similar timeline:
- Upfront Med and Police check May 2013
- Submitted July 2013
- AIP Feb 2014
- Med Request Dec 2014
- Redo Med Jan 2015
My file is still with Vegreville and it's 15 mths after AIP. Hope your MP can bring you any good news soon!

So I had an appointment at my local MP's office on Friday. I saw his assistant who was absolutely lovely....she can't believe I've been waiting this long with how many people after me have got DM. (Even though my prints were requested last year they marked that off as a non-issue on my file shortly after receiving them, so apparently that shouldn't be the reason for a holdup). She took tonnes of notes about my application and situation including my passport issues etc ...then put in a call to the Ministers office. She's expecting a call back either today or tomorrow and is hopeful they can prod this along a little. I gave her some figures about the current inland processing times (17 & 10) versus processing times when my application was submitted (8 & 6) - she said i'm the first person to call or go in who can actually provide these figures, and can also back them up. Turns out my local MP is the Shadow Minister for Consular Affairs & Human Rights, and works closely with the Shadow Immigration Minister and they want to use information like this in their meetings etc. So maybe it can help us all, who knows. I'm going to stay ccautiously optimistic without raising my hopes too much...but cross your fingers for me!

by the way what is gonna happen on the permanent resident interview ?
what is the next step after that ?

i haven`t maintained my legal status, will it be a problem ?

i mean i didn`t extend my visitor visa at the second time but applied for an open work permit in the pilot program by end of january i have never received or heard anything. am i in implied status ?

but anyway would it be a problem if someone run out of their status ?

If you still had legal status when CIC received your OWP, you should have implied status. Even if you do not have implied status, it shouldn't negatively impact your PR, but you won't qualify for the pilot program OWP and would need to wait until you have AIP to be eligible for the `regular' OWP.
