I don't know what IEC or PGWP mean or how to tell from looking at the document.
IEC = "International Experience in Canada" (http://www.international.gc.ca/experience/intro_incoming-intro_entrant.aspx?lang=eng)
PGWP = "Post Graduate Work Permit" (http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/study/work-postgrad.asp)

I should know soon since I applied 8 days ago, and the estimated time for online work permit extensions is 7 days, though I checked and the status is still Open. Guess I shouldn't worry as I read that even if they don't decide on the OWP extension when this expires that I can just continue working provisionally. I just might have a problem if I leave Canada after this OWP expires and then try to re-enter. I have a trip to Pittsburgh coming up in October, but I will be returning on 17 October and my current OWP will still be valid, though I would prefer if I had my new one in hand just in case CBSA has concerns that there are just two weeks left on it.
Implied status expires when you leave Canada. Upon return, CBSA may permit you to re-enter and wait for a decision on your work permit, but you may not legally work.

CBSA won't have an issue if there are only two weeks left. As long as its still valid, you are in status. If you were to return before your work permit expires, you would have implied status once the existing work permit expires.

Thanks, computergeek, for the explanation. I will heed your advice!

Being new here, I have a couple of questions...

1) I notice many of you have dates in your posts on the left side for when various stages occurred. I don't find those fields when I edit my profile... how do you enter them and get them to show up?

2) This is an inland application forum, so I assume just about all of you are in Canada as am I. I first accessed this forum at work, which while it is in Canada, the external IP address is US (so it appears I am in the US when my IP is logged). Now when accessing these forums from home (IP check shows I am in Canada), it says "Sorry bjohnson921, you are banned from using this forum!". Even on a PC where I am not logged in, it says "Sorry guest, ...". Obviously since I am posting I am not banned. Is this forum blocked from use inside Canada, and if so, how are you all here? ;D ;D

A number of functions on the forum are limited until you have 10 posts - that's one of them. After your 10th post you will be able to edit that via your profile settings.

The forum software they use can ban specific IP addresses (sometimes that becomes necessary when someone keeps creating new accounts). The forum is definitely not blocked for Canada.

Have you tried using an anonymizing mechanism (e.g., Tor https://www.torproject.org/). I know of at least one Canadian website that is actually geoblocked from Canada and using Tor permits access to it.

I'm not sure how one contacts the admins here (I know they are here, because they fix the issues that arise fairly quickly). I've also reported spam before and someone actually responds to it.

Has anyone timeline for the 2nd stage passed the 8 months? I just reached 8 months and a week. The call centre agent told me they will contact the officer who have my file last week but nothing since then. They said that have everything and the only thing left is for the officer to look at my file and make a decision.
I am around the same timeline as you. My 8 months passed on Sept 11.

Keep me posted if you hear anything from them soon.

I'll have to make some more posts to get up to that count of 10 so I can add my dates to my profile. Here's one more towards that!

I am coming up on two years since I entered phase 2. I don't know why others get processed faster than mine is, though I know I am not alone here. Does it have to do with where you came from (US for me)? It shouldn't be that complicated, though I theorize that it took a while to check into my non-accompanying children, requesting their medicals, getting their medicals, and then reaching an agreement to ignore that my eldest daughter would not comply and getting them to agree that was okay, then getting my 2nd medical in May '14 because too much time passed since my first medical in Nov '12.

The online work permit application which is supposed to only take 7 days is still open 13 days later, too.

Should I assume they would contact me if they had a problem, and that this is just that they aren't getting to mine?

From the replies (thanks, computergeek!), I guess I have nothing to worry about regarding slowness as I can work indefinitely in implied status - just cannot leave Canada starting in November. Though I do wonder since my OHIP card expires with my work permit, will I have no medical insurance until this is resolved?

Someone in 2013 just got DM. Great for them, but why would CIC even consider processing 2013 if there are still people from 2012?
There are a couple of them left in 2012 however due to lack of input / feedback from 2012 inland applicants, I can't say that they are still waiting. I suspects that most of the remaining applicants still waiting in spreadsheet has already landed and haven't gotten back to me at all. Once 2013 rolled around, the feedback has dropped considerable. For every day it passes without any feedback, the less accurate the spreadsheet becomes.

I was not talking about the spreadsheet. I was talking about CIC processing 2013 applications when there are quite a few people who applied in 2012 and are still waiting.
It has been 18 months since we got AIP and almost 2 years since we've applied.

I completely understand what you are saying. I am only mentioning that even though there seems to be a lot of 2012 applicants in my spreadsheets still "waiting" to land, I think they may have already landed but haven't gotten back to me in giving any updates.

I think in reality, there are still a couple of 2012 applicants still waiting, most of them have landed already. I really can't say one thing or another as I have not received any feedbacks from fellow 2012 members on their statuses. Since Jan 2013, the feedback from 2012 have dropped to almost non-existent.

Hi Screech339,

I applied in March 2012 and am still waiting for DM even though I was AIP in October 2012, though maybe the issue with my non-accompanying children makes mine a reasonable exception for why 2013 inland applicants are landing before me. It did seem that when Vegreville sent that section off to Seattle, which then closed and moved to L.A., and during that period I even got a letter saying not to contact Seattle or L.A. until I heard otherwise.... then finally I got the letter June 2013 that I needed to get medicals for my children, which I did in July 2013, and then the slow back and forth regarding my eldest's non-compliance, which when that was resolved I needed a second medical, which I got May 2014.

Still, March is quite early in 2012, and I am still, forever, waiting....

Finally got AIP after over two years!!

Date application received by CIC: July 2012
Transferred to inland CIC Etobicoke: Jan 2013
Interview at CIC Etobicoke: October 2013
Transferred to CIC Calgary (moved to Calgary): November 2013
Request for documents: August 2014
AIP: August 2014
Update from the previous status I posted earlier (quoted above)!!

WE GOT OUR LANDING APPOINTMENT FROM CIC CALGARY for October 8 :)
AIP in August 2014
Medical request in August 2014
Never heard about DM
Received an e-mail about landing appointment today, so I am assuming DM has been done at the same time. I guess since the file was already being handled by CIC Calgary, landing appointment might have been scheduled immediately.

It's been a long journey!!

Congrats on getting a landing date. I have updated the spreadsheet. I am going to assume the same. AIP and DM was issued same time.

Thank you! I think DM and landing was at same time, because we got medical requests after receiving AIP. At the time, the agent advised she will try to extend medicals, but then she got back and said she was unable to do that, and we had to get new medicals as the older ones expired. I suppose they were ready to give AIP/DM at the same time, but could not do so because of medicals. I guess once they received the medicals, everything else was ready, and they probably gave DM / appointment letter on the same date. Either way, we're very happy :)

Would you know what day in Aug did you have your medical redone?
