We went to the local office to see whether we could speed things up a bit. The Immigration officer wasn't in but we left details with the security officer and she left a note on the officers desk. By the time we got home there was a message from the IO that our landing appointment is tomorrow!

Congrats!!! You have been waiting so long. I wish your happy landing! :)

Hey guys I need some advise/information.... We've gotten our AIP, waiting for my husbands criminal background from his home country. Right now my husband is working but as many of you may know the rate of pay for new immigrants are horrible, we've been talking about him going out West to work for a year or so. Does anyone know If this could affect our application? Any advise would gone greatly appreciated! Thanks

do they always ask to bring PR photos to the interview?
I had mine sent with application...maybe those pics are considered to expire by the time of actual PR card issue?
just do not want to spend extra 40$ again :D >:(

Yes you need new ones. $40? I just go to my. local shoppers drug lol $12 and I'm good to go!

It is a statutory requirement of the in Canada class that the applicant must live with the sponsor in Canada. Living apart does not meet this requirement (and I just read a case that was refused on exactly this basis).

Yes I saw thy as well, that's what prompted my question. We haven't made a final decision because I don't want to compromise our application in any way. We would still be cohabitating, he'd be there for 3 weeks out of the month and return home on his week off work.

As long as he still resides with you, then you meet the statutory definition. The issue is "does one week per month qualify as residing" and that's a factual question that a given officer would decide.

Congrats to canuck2k on landing today and becoming a PR of Canada.

Congrats to confrentis on getting the landing date of Dec 13, landing in 2 days.

That's not necessarily true, I just started my first job in Canada and with no experience I'm averaging $25 an hour at a local saw mill.

Hey Guys So Happy today...I got My PR card TODAY...
HAPPY HAPPY HAPPY....
I could have received my card almost a 3 weeks ago because it was mailed to my lawyer's address. My lawyer's recently moved from his old place to new one And card was sent to his previous mailing address.
Bottom line is I have a PR card and it's so pretty and pretty and really pretty...
Good luck to you all.
