If you can obtain evidence showing the common law relationship ended back in 2005 or 2006 you should be just fine. Letters from friends/family would work. If you filed your tax returns as "single" after that time, you should also use that to demonstrate your change in status. Leases for apartments would also potentially show that (e.g., something in your own name). This would be particularly good if you can show before and after ("2004 lease in both names... 2006 lease in your name alone" for example.)

You should also order a copy of your GCMS case notes now, because the "notes" section at the end will probably give you insight into what the officer really is concerned about.

Thanks for the advice computergeek,I have a restraining order against my ex ....which states him as my ex from 2005 with different addresses and I did file my taxes as single the same year!!....I'll see if the Kenya high commission can issue a document/certificate of no impediment dated prior to my current marriage as well!!!...his sister is here and can also attest to this as well!!!...I guess I'll know for sure what they need tomorrow!!!

If the issue is the termination of your prior relationship, your evidence is quite strong.

Sorry to hear that.

More proof about your common law relationship again????

Actually they are asking for a divorce or separation certificate from my ex,the thing is we were never legally married but I put down I was married since we don't have common law unions in Kenya!!!
Am currently legally married though!...dang' it sounds complicated!lol

Ah yes, that would explain the source of the confusion. The Canadian concept of "common law" does cause problems regularly in immigration. But it just sounds like a bit of extra paperwork and an explanation and once you get it cleared up things should move forward again.

Different laws/rules and regulations!!!...I sure hope it doesn't complicate matters and prolong the wait/time!!!....I waited six years for my refugee application I sure pray it doesn't happen again :-[

I live in vancouver but I sent my application to the vegreville office. Does that answer what you meant by to which office I landed?

Then I would assume you would be landing in Vancouver. You received DM August 21, right? From the 2012 spreadsheet, it looks like time has varied quite wildly at Vancouver, from landing 27 days after DM to 127 days. Most seem to be between 40 and 65 days, though. But it's a really small sample (I only saw perhaps 7 Vancouver landings as I glanced through), so I don't know what Vancouver is averaging for landing times after DM. Hopefully someone more knowledgeable can help.

I have seen some posts here saying medicals have expired and they can be " extended " ? Who will extend the medicals and why will they extend it. I thought once medicals are expired you have to do new medicals.

LOL ANYONE??
