Are you a convention refugee? I wouldn't think so or you wouldn't be applying via the sponsored spouse category.

Sorry if this is a repeat question, just want to be clear. My husband the applicant has lived in Canada for 2+yrs were applying inland, he had his police check done but it was just for here in Canada. We're we suppose to have one done in his home country as well? We've already mailed our application since Dec 5 /2012. If he is to have one done from his homeland Nigeria, how long will it take and when should we send that in? Will not sending it delay our application?

Thanks :)

as far as i know, for any place the applicant has lived in over 6 months, he should hv a police check done. But for the rest of the questions I have no idea. maybe others could help:)

well my wife was a refugee so we had no option to provide the police clearance from our home country! so we only did the fingerprint and got the police certificate from Toronto police, we managed to get the AIP this October just with that ! so i am not sure yet if they ask us to provide that home country clearance( which is impossible to get due to my wife status) sometimes down the road before the second stage approval !
So, i am hoping that someone here will be able to straight this out for us !
thanks

A police check is required for any country in which he has lived for six months or more except Canada - you only need to do Canada (with prints) if they request same, which happens in about 5-10% of cases from what I can tell.

That will undoubtedly complicate things. But if she was a successful refugee, then they must have resolved the issues surrounding her lack of police clearance.

Hi everyone!
I happy new year! :P I have a couple of questions for u guys. computergeek?

1.- what exactly are FOSS notes and why are people who got AIP ordering them? here in the forum.

2.- Is it normal that they haven't acknowledged the police certificate i sent after AIP? they acknowledged the medicals in the status but not the police yet. I called and first time the guy said that they didn't seem to have gotten it, then I called a second time 'cause he seemed kinda clueless, and he said that they had indeed received it but hadn't opened it yet?? so weird. anyone had the same case with their police cheks or whatever not being acknowleged? help.

1)i would also like to order FOSS soon just to know how my situation goes after AIP. Though I expect nothing great from them..hahaha
2)i dont think they would acknowledge the Police Certificate, I got reply from my home country confirming they sent out the certificate in Nov, but CIC never acknowledge that, when I got AIP, it says they will have security background check, medical check of my family members , but nothing else they mentioned.

1. They are electronic case notes, it means they give you a print out about your case. You will see what they dis with your case, when your Meds expire, which fees you paid and what stages you passed. (FOSS notes are free for inland applicants so it's worth it to order.)

2. I sent my police cert with my initial application back in march and they haven't acknowledged on the ecas as well.
According to the FOSS notes they received it so i think ichbinella is right, the Ecas does not show this info.

I am sorry guys if I missed the answer of my question - but how can I order FOSS notes?
I am an inland applicant

btw Happy New year to you all and good luck!

Start here: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/department/atip/requests-personal.asp

You are making a privacy act request so you don't need to pay the $5 fee - just fill out the form, submit and 30 days later you get your electronic case notes.

Hi,

I sent my medical and police at the same time. Only my medical was confirmed. Although my FedEx tracking number said both were received and signed for by staff.

Thank you guys for your responses. I really wonder WHY the police thing is not acknowledged and the medical is. did anyone find any important information in their foss notes? u guys just ordered it for fun kinda thing? or do u guys get an idea of when the process is finalized with the foss notes?
