I set up an account on MY CIC when I submitted an extension request for my wife's TRV. I tried logging in on the weekend and it does not recognize my user name or password. I know I have them right because I wrote them down and have gotten in before.

My question is: can I set up a new user name and password and access any information that may be there with regards to her TRV extension or even her PR. I do not have an ecas number yet as I am still waiting for AOR
It happened to me before.
I created a new user and when I entered my information it said that there is already a user with my UCI and it asked if I want to merge them or something like that.
So now I have all my information under the new user (even previous applications done with the other user)

always remember that what you're being told by CIC depends on the agent you're talking to.
From my experience (and believe me, I called them a lot !) they will most of the time tell you what is written on the CIC website.
They had also told me it would take 8 months, it took 5 days from stage 1 to stage 2. But it's a case by case, so you never really know.
Be patient ! it'll be alright
Thank you very much for the pep talk. :)I saw the spreadsheet from last year and what you guys write here. But at the same time when I looked at our spreadsheet I saw that from more than 50 people already received AIP, that only 3-4 got Stage 2.If I have to wait months I will get crazy. No matter that I will have the right to work and get OHiP. I still don't know if I would be able to remain in the country.

Hello everyone!!!

I have a question! I sent my application the last week of July and CIC received it the 1st week of august (As per Canada Post)

My question is, I know that CIC will not tell you straight away that they got it, but tell let you know when they are already working on your file, how long does it take for them to do that?? Its been 3 months for us and still not answer (I wanna think this is normal) Im just curious to know when can I start freaking out because I haven't hear from them ahahaha!!

Another question is ... the website mention that the process takes 11months (aprox) for the 1st part of the process, when can we start counting this 11 months?

Process for first stage if everything is straight forward takes approx 6 months now and you can start counting from the day they received your app. That is how it worked for us anyway. If they need to request additional info it can take a little longer. You should be hearing something soon or with in a month I bet.

Hi everyone;

Sorry to stray off point! I have a few queries that someone may be able to assist with. I am the applicant and my wife (the sponsor) is currently on parental leave. We received AIP and OWP in Sept and are waiting for DM on Stage 2 - medicals were received by CIC last week so I have fingers, toes, arms, legs and eyes crossed that it will not be too much longer.

Anyway to my queries, my wife has a very good opportunity to return to work early in her home province. My questions;

1. Can I take over the parental leave (from let's say Feb to May) if I were to hand in notice in my current job - I have been working here on a full time basis for almost two years with the same employer, but once the parental leave finishes I will not be in the same province.

2. Is it advisable to change provinces when (theoretically) so close to the finish line? Should we wait to land and then make the move?

Thank you for any input you may have on this. The forum has been fantastic throughout this whole process. Thank you all for sharing. Best of luck for those waiting - times are shorter than when we started this whole thing so keep positive.

CanED.

When they ask about family members they mean parents, siblings and children.

When they ask for dependents, they mean anyone that is legally your dependent, which usually means children dependent upon you (e.g., under 22, or even older if they are students). In some cases you might have an adult child who is your dependent (e.g., if they suffer from a condition that means they cannot care for themself.)

For Inland? Yes. CPC-V is fine.

Some people have a choice. For example, someone living in Canada, who was a dual Australian/UK citizen would have the choice of CPP-O, Sydney or London. In cases like that it matters which office is listed. But if you but somewhere that you aren't eligible to use, they wouldn't end up processing it there anyway.

Are you moving to Quebec? If not, you don't need this.

Children who are eligible to immigrate.

Right. Only count people who are eligible to immigrate.

Don't say anything. I'm assuming your child will be born in Canada, in which case the baby will be a Canadian citizen. You can report the birth after it happens, but it won't affect your application at all.

Hopefully you are in one of the provinces that is more generous with health care for applicants than they are in Ontario (the stingiest as far as I know).
Thanks computergeek....another question for the additional family member form where it says to list all children then to certify that i dont have any children should I leave it blank and write a note explaining that I'm expectant or just say no and leave it at that?

Until the child is born, CIC doesn't consider you to have the child, so at the time you sign you don't have any children. If you feel like telling them you are expecting, fine, but you're only stating the facts are true at the time you sign the document.
