Hi All;

Congrats to those who received AIP :).

Yes the CIC has changed the step 2 timings from 8 months to 11 months and I called the CIC on Monday and the officer told me that unfortunately the CIC is so backlogged with all the PR applications that it will take them 11 months to process all applications and said that my husbands app will be affected by that time frame too. I hope not they always say these things but work faster... but on the contrary you never they might just take there sweet time... I hope not....

I hope they go through our apps sooner so everyone can finally have a stress free life...

All the best to all

wow...I think it really varies when it comes to documents along with you in the landing interview for different local offices...my landing letter never specify my passport that is why I interpret " the original identify docments" means my passport....my landing letter asks me to bring the following, some of which are different from yours....

1. My own interpreter, if required.
2. My sponsor
3. 2 Photos with specific size
4. All document issued by CIC
5. Proof of valid Temporary Residence status in canada
6. Notice of seizure form IMM5265, if applicable

@ sunflora,

Thank you! Well, in the letter, they said that

You must bring the following documents:
1. Your valid passport and/or
2. The original of your identity document(s) provided to the CPC-V or to the local Canada Immigration Centre
3. All your immigration documents
4. Proof of 'undertaking' issued by MICC
5. CSQ
6. You have to be accompanied by your sponsor/spouse, your sponsor has to provide an ID document with picture.
7. SIN card beginning with 9

That's why I'm confused....
(4 and 5 are only for person living in Quebec. I've already sent 2 photos for PR card. So, they don't mention about it.)

I agree that each office is different. Our landing date is Dec. 10 in London, Ont and I was also asked for proof of income as well as all the other stuff. Does anyone know if a temporary tax number is same as temporary SIN. Am going to health office Friday so my 3 month waiting period will begin from Oct 31 (date of AIP) instead of when I get COPR (Dec. 10)

Got my SIN today. The agent at my landing appointment misled me. He warned me not to try to get my SIN until I got my PR card (and I believed him, because I landed at a "traveling" office, and I'm in a kind of remote area where not everything is the "full-service" type office of the larger cities). Anyhow, I need my SIN to get an allowance available to immigrants who enroll in language courses (Québec). So a fellow immigrant I met on the forum is taking the same classes in Montreal, and she told me I could go to the Service Canada here with just my COPR. Two other fellow immigrants at the language centre where we take classes confirmed this and gave me the address of the office (all in French; I'm amazed at what we can communicate in French at this point!). I went today, and while the woman was a bit confused at times by the COPR, it wasn't a problem, and I walked out with a letter containing my SIN. I was told to expect my card in 10 days or so.

@ nairaboy usually it doesn't go back to the que , when the officer sends you a letter they will tell you to submit this documents before so and so date , the officer doesn't check the file until that expiry date for the requested documents, an agent told me this on phone, and also depending on the work load some officers will update quickly if not they will wait till the expiry date of the letter they sent you. Broda it is well . Na so dem dey do naija application , na thier way !!! God pass dem , oluwa is involve

Psalm91 thanks bro, its really ironic they lost the marriage cert I submitted with my application now I have to wait another 2-3 months for AIP! I am just hoping on God favour now praying I hear something soon!

Hi everyone, I spoke to CIC today regarding change of address, I changed my few months ago online and I just wanted to check is everything ok. Of course they did not have a new address in the system and I had to give it to them, and that is not enough, I need to write a letter to my local immigration office informing them of the change of my address.Does anyone know how that letter should look like? This is the reason why I have not received the landing date yet :mad: :mad: :mad:

@screech339 thank you
I became a permanent resident, but I'm still dissapointed, because the agent told me that I must to wait my PR card to apply for SIN card....though, after interview , I went to service canada to see if I can get my SIN only with COPR.....and they told me the same thing...I need PR card...so, I must to wait 6-8 weeks, then another 2 weeks until I get my SIN card.....
I think at the beginning of 2014 the whole process will end.... ???

Sorry to hear that you didn't get your SIN at landing. Only a select few local CIC offices have a dedicated SIN processing booth at landing offices. Etobicoke being one of the locations.

So unless you manage to score a SIN at landing, you have to wait until PR card arrives in the mail. But honestly this is stupid. The outland applicants who lands much quicker can get their SIN with their COPR meanwhile inland applicants waits up to 1-2 years to "land" and get COPR and still have to wait another 2 months to get their PR card in the mail and then apply for SIN. No justification for these differences.

That may be one of the reasons why you were denied SIN with COPR. Service Canada website specifically say for PRs to apply for SIN, PR cards are the only accepted documents if the PR sponsorship claim was done in canada. In other words, inland sponsorships.

Does anyone know what the wait times are for landing interview in Calgary. I got DM today!
According to the 2012 timesheets, those landing at calgary are the most unfortunate ones as calgary has the longest wait time. From approx 80 - 120 days after DM.
