WHAT!? I PAID 320$ FOR MY MEDICALS!! How ridiculous that you people can get a medical for 100-150$ and other are forced to pay triple amounts. How about the ministry is going to make a law to protect immigrants for such high costs!?

If I would've known that, I've would've joined my wife on her trip to Toronto last spring.

Anyway... You can get the validity your medicals extended, as long as you didn't leave Canada in the mean time. I don't know the exact procedure for it, I just remember that other people on the forum did it.

I already received my quebec health insurance card.

How did you get that? With the letter from AIP?

Doctor charge what they want.. We are in montreal and we called the whole list of doctor before making the appointment price were between 180 to 300$... There is no flat rate unfortunatly!

My case is very similar to yours. I got AiP in April and then I submitted the requested info which they open in June and I am still waiting... so frustrating.

my wife got her AIP in Jan, they requested additional info in may which we send right back the 2nd day.... no word on anything :-\

I think CIC already protects applicants by closing the licences of some unacceptable doctors.
For example, a year ago we have about 7 Doctors in Toronto who knows Russian.
5 of those doctors charged $400-$500 for a medicine.
And just 2 DMP had a good price in range of $150.

What do we have currently? On the the CIC website we can find just 2 doctors who know Russian, and both clinics charge an adequate price.

Hope it had not been an accident, but CIC regulation action to protect applicants' rights.

Hi guys!

So I called CIC again for my medical and I was told to just redo it. Luckily i got an earlier date of examintation on thursday, July 14, 2011.

SO.. i'll just pass all the requested documents (medical receipts and form) right after I do my medical including my OWP application.

Now, what would be my reason for my extension of stay in part D - MY REQUEST ??

do I say, I am applying for an open work permit while waiting for my PR to be finalized?? Is this good enough reason? Please help.. thanks guys

I had to pay $360 for mine. There were only two DMP's in the province to go to and they both charged the same thing. :

Hello CEC,

My case also similar to you. We received our AIP, OWP 1st stage on 6th April 2011. Than according to their request I sent & they received my police clearance on 30th May 2011 but now waiting, no word yet, no e-cas, no phone call nothing......................... it is almost more than 3 months now

in June 2010, in Montreal, the medical test costed me 200 dollars. prices unfortunately seem to be different for every clinic.....

I got my health insurance card calling first la "REGIE D' ASSURANCE MALADIE DU QUEBEC" 1 800 561-9749
and they opened my file asking me for the date when i got AIP and they wanted to know something written on CSQ
then they told me that they would send me a form with all the required documents to my address (no charge)
. a week later i received the form where i was asked to provide at a CLSC or in person at the Regie in Montreal, or quebec city...i did it at a CLSC(easier for me):

2 photos for health insurance card( ask at the photographer at a jean coutu or pharmaprix)
original of CSQ
original of status in Canada (for example: Visitor visa)
AIP letter
and the photocopy of the whole notary deed of purchase of my property (i guess when you don't own the property where you live you will have to provide something else...they will tell you)
they returned the originals pretty quickly and they told me that because i had my AIP at the end of april , april would count as 1 month so basically i was eligible for health insurance from the 1 st of july. i received my health insurance card(valid only for 1 year....i guess i can renew it easily after i have the landing interview) a week ago
