how do we find out what date CIC in Vergeville opened letters to?

and how long does it take for something to post on e-cas after the letter is opened?
It is normally three months from the date they requested the documents.

Welcome, jhjeppe! I sent my app in only a few days after you. We are all anxious and awaiting some kind of news. :)

Love_Young,
I heard it is OK to leave the country if you are from a visa-exempt place like the U.S. once your application is done, but if you don't have your PR card it is best to visit the local embassy and get a return travel document.

I have a single question though, I heard that if you don't pay the right to PR fee ahead of time it can delay everything 2 months, but inland applicants pay at the landing interview right?
You can pay the Landing fee upfront or either at the time of landing. The delay is only for the outland applicants.

OWP

Does anyone know???

I applied for a OWP with my pr application, it should be soon now. according to other's timelines and CiC's timeline, I should receive a OWP within a month or so. Does anyone know if there is a way that I can speed this up? maybe by getting a job offer or something? I have now been unemployed for like a freaking year!!! I am so frustrated. Soon I hope.

That is good, we should keep in touch so that we may share timelines. you can find me on facebook here - facebook.com/jjeppe

I hope that your application will be processed in record time!!!

One question for the experts: Once I have received the letter from Vegreville, can I leave Canada and re-enter without any problems because the PR application is complete. Or do I have to wait for the PR card to arrive?
Hi Mm04,

I suggest that you wait at least until you've had your real landing. The Vancouver office (if that's your nearest office) will contact you for an 'interview' to do the landing. Once you've landed, you are accepted as a permanent resident. Right now, you've been accepted by Vegreville, but that's just 90% of the whole shebang. Just await the last 10% and you can travel with your COPR. Since you're from Germany (visa exempt), I'm sure they'll let you in without a PR card (after landing you've been accepted as a PR anyway, so there's no way they can take it back from you).

The tracker of Canada Post notified me that CIC received my envelope with extra information. Hopefully they'll open it quickly and add it to my case (wrote that on the outside of the envelope), otherwise it might get slightly funky as soon as they process my file in about a month. ???
I'll think about a glass that's rather full then empty, it'll probably not increase my odds, but at least it can keep me going.
Oh yes, and Canada Post will reimburse me for the delay. I'll receive a cheque in the mail in 5-10 days. It's not much (10$), but with our budget it can't hurt (and it's another tiny punishment for Canada Post management).

Thanks for the explanation, Jurjen!
I will definitely wait for the COPR or even wait additional two months to receive the PR card.

I hope that Vegreville will soon add your additional information and that your application get approved soon!

@Love_Young: Yes, you were right with your guess that I got AIP and PR at the same time - you are an PR expert :)

I have been in Hfx for 2 years now. Overall I enjoyed it here, however the weather this year has been very sh*tty. It has been raining non stop for the last 3 months. Today is cold outside and feels like fall. :/

Hello folks, I am new here.

Here is my timeline:

We received your application for permanent residence on June 17, 2010.

We started processing your application on August 26, 2010.

A decision has been made and you will be contacted. (April 9)

Medical results have been received.

We received the requested information on June 15, 2011. Thank you for providing the information. (I sent the info on the first week of may)

I called CIC and I was told my police checks are already in the system waiting to be approved. How long more you guys think?

Still no change for me.. Still in process...

Submitted September 14, 2010. Others got good news already...

I'm just wondering if they'll still ask for additional docs at this point. I stayed in China for 2 years but always just for 2-3 mos. Never more than 5 months.. Immigration Consultant said no need to submit a police clearance... I'm just hoping they won't ask me to submit one cuz it's really hard to get it... :(

I need good news..

CEC, welcome to the thread!

It's always very hard to predict how much longer one will have to wait to get PR.
Some people get the 2nd stage done in 1 month while some others get it in 5 months.

I was also requested for police certificates from Brazil, I sent it and couple of days after my e-cas changed to "We received the requested information on ######. Thank you for providing the information" I got PR.

Hang in there some good news may be coming to you, maybe in the following weeks. :)

Hey guys,

I have a question. We did not apply for an open work permit with our PR application. Does anyone know when we can apply for one? When they send you the AIP letter, can you take it somewhere and get a SIN number? I am confused on how this works.

Did anyone send there app without the OWP?

Out of curiosity, does anyone know what the jumps were like during July and August last year?
