Anyone here to chat with. Just one of those days where I miss my family and friends.
I knew I had been away from home for a long time but now actually talking to friends and looking at their pictures has made me realize really just how long I have been gone. I worry I have lost friendships with people just because I have been away for so long. Hopefully they understand though. I just really miss home today. :'( Hopefully not much longer now until I can try and plan a trip to visit home. Now if only prices for tickets would go down more...

LY, I know it is illegal but so many people get cash jobs while they are waiting for permanent residency. What about waitressing? Working will get your mind off of things.

Hey LoveYoung, I'm free now. I was busy earlier. Don't worry too much about your friends, I'm sure they understand. I have tons of friends back home and I haven't seen them too for almost 2 years now. We just get in touch thru facebook and skype. I'm so looking forward to summer too but I do hope gas prices go down. It was 132.9 today here in Alberta, I can only imagine the gas prices in Toronto and Vancouver.

Nope, I absolutely refuse to do that. A little bit of cash or time to take my mind off stuff isn't worth the consequences. Only a little while now anyway, you know?

Thanks lovely20 for chatting with me. :) I think they understand too and I guess the ones that don't really aren't good friends after all. I haven't seen home in over 2 years either. And I keep in touch by using Facebook but sometimes even that doesn't really fill the empty spot you know? But most days it does. I am looking forward to summer too, I really am. Gas prices really are outrageous right now especially in the US. And unfortunately I probably have to wait for their prices to go down before I get a good deal on a ticket to go back home. Right now I am just having the hard time of deciding on whether I go home during the summer or if I go a little bit before Christmas because me and hubby are invited to my cousins wedding which is on New Year's Eve. Hmm...I don't know but I guess we will figure it out soon.

You are right about "If they don't understand they aren't really good friends." Would love to travel in the summer too but I prefer Christmas time to visit with family and friends. Christmas is a lot more fun although more expensive, with the airfare and also the Christmas gifts. Don't worry about not being able to afford it, you will be able to afford it as soon as you get to work. Since summer is usually busy, I suggest you work hard and save all your money to go home during the Christmas break!

I also agree about not working illegally now. You don't want to jeopardize your status, you don't know if there someone out there who will report you to immigration.

Working really hard during the summer and saving up the extra money is a GREAT idea. Thanks lovely20. Hopefully we just won't encounter any delays or cancellations in flights though. That would be the only bad part. Oh man this has me all excited now to know that if I get AIP soon I can start working to save money and be there before the end of the year. What a wonderful thing that would be. :D

Yup, that's what we do, work harder in the summer and save money. Although I would really love to go on vacation during summer, it's the best time to save a lot of money coz of all the overtime pay you can get especially if you work in the hospitality business. My spouse works in a hotel and at first I don't understand why we can't go away during the summer but now I do. And it's always fun to fly-out of -35C temperature in the winter and be somewhere different.

The only good thing about this waiting thing for my husband is that he can work while waiting. I know it would drive him nuts too if he can't. But hey, your wait is almost over. Just a couple more days, or even hours!

Someone was telling me that somewhere on the CIC website it says that if you are caught working, it is not a reason for them to deny you. This what I heard. I have not actually read it myself.

Yeah well until you find where CIC themselves actually say it then you can be sure it is probably not safe to attempt.
Besides I respect this town, province, and country more than anything to do something like that. Just not worth it to me.
To each there own though.

Ya, I agree with you but I also know someone right now that is also doing this process and they have been living in poverty since they sent in there app. You guys are lucky that you live with your inlaws. Myself and my husband also live with my parents until our place is ready next year. It is a huge blessing but not everyone has the luxury. We are lucky.

If you have an application in process and are found to be working illegally, you will be deported. Simple as that.

However, if you worked illegally in the past, (pre-application) and stated so on your application, CIC does not nessesarily deny you. You cannot be working if you are applying inland and do not have a work permit.

Thanks for clarifying that Justina. I was searching the internet for a couple of hours now looking for justification on angtao's statement.

Hello People

I hope everyone is doing well - it is good to see the updates from everyone. Congrats to all those who have been waiting patiently.

I got an update myself , I logged in and this is what i saw :

We received your application for permanent residence on May 27, 2010.

We started processing your application on August 9, 2010.

Medical results have been received.

A decision has been made and you will be contacted.

We received the requested information on May 2, 2011. Thank you for providing the information.

We sent you a letter on May 9, 2011 to MY ADDRESS about the decision on your application. Please consider delays in mail delivery before contacting us. If we have sent the letter to the wrong address, please contact us.

Ay ideas what this means??
Do share your thoughts.

And remember Patience is virtue, those who have not heard back yet, stay calm- it will happen
Congratulation!!!
I received a information request letter on March 8,2011. I sent additional information on April 1,2011 and a police check on May 1,2011. i haven't seen any update on ECAS since July,2010 (we received you app on May 7/we started processing your app on July 19,2010). That's all.
I have uncertain feeling now. I wonder if they have received my information or not.... Feeling so bad :-[
Does anyone know how long the CIC will open the correspondence after they have received?

Ya, someone told me they saw it in one of those long pdf things on the cic website. I am going to try and find out where they saw it and I will post it on here.

All in all though, you do not want to give any reasons for CIC to deny you. It may say that working illegally does not affect your file but we all know that cic can deny you for any suspicious reason.

Hi All,

I have noticed something interesting. When they say on the automated system that you will recieve a response by ... Usually there is an update on your Ecas on that date. This has happened thrice to us.

Anyone else has noticed this pattern???
