Thanks for the info guys.

Love Young, the only number that I have starts with an R which is my receipt number from paying the fees on the internet. At what point do I get a client number? Is a client number assigned when my file starts to process or would the call centre be able to tell me my client number?

I think people are misinterpreting me and think that I meant not to send extra evidence. That is NOT the case.
I actually agree with sending additional information in if you have it and feel it is vital but everyone has to understand it is all about timing as well. I mean if you send in your additional information too close to when AIP decision will be coming, it more than likely won't even be assessed or attached in time. They aren't going to hold off on your application decision for AIP because you send additional documents because in most cases they aren't even aware that you are sending in more proof so why would they wait. My suggestion however would be that if it is close to AIP decision and you decide to send in additional documents that you feel are vital in the assessment and worried about it getting attached in time then I would call and ask that the agent put a note on your file stating that "additional information" is being sent and requesting it be attached ASAP. If one agent won't do it, call again. They can state they aren't able to do that but they are. They have done so for me before and it helped me TREMENDOUSLY.

If you are still quite a few months away from AIP decision then feel free to send as it is certain it will be attached in time. However, just know that when sending evidence the time it takes to attach it is up in the air. I sent my additional document to be attached to the same address Inlandappl sent it to, listed the necessary information needed to find my file to attach, and even asked for it to be attached ASAP however it took 3 months for it to be attached. Which by the way is the "average" time it takes to attach additional documents. But on the other hand you could be as lucky as Inlandappl and it only take 3 weeks. If you are interested in doing so to attach documents then you need to take into consideration the maximum time it may take, include all information needed to attach the documents, and get tracking to confirm that it was received. Also, make copies of what you sent as well. Good luck everyone.

angtao: It is best that you wait to attach documents to your file until you can confirm they have starting processing your file also if you don't have a client id, you would need to wait until you do have one as it is vital information for them in helping them attach it to the proper file.

Well you can either get a client id number from either ways: visitor visa, visitor record, extension, study or work permit, etc.
In you particular situation you would not usually get one until after they have begun to process the file.

P.S. Yes after it starts processing you can call CIC to find out your client id number. Applications usually start processing at 2 -2 and a half months.

My husband has a Visitor extension as he has stayed past the 6 months that you are allowed to stay in Canada. Would our client id number be on there and does immigration use that same number?

Is your husband the applicant?
If so then yes he can use the client id number on there to check the status and also use it to attach additional documents.
It is his "personal identification number" that only belongs to him and that is why the client id number is important to be listed when attached the documents.

Here is an example of where the client id is located:

Do you guys know that the automative phone service tells you anything about decision made? I mean when you enter your personal information and client-id it says when they started to process. Does this change anyhow once you get AIP? Some of you who already got first stage might be able to answer me. Thanks

I don't have an answer based on AIP obviously (I wish lol) but I do know that whenever I used it for checking on my extension status, it did tell me it was approved and when a letter was sent. I can't see why it would be much different for other applications. I hope you get an answer soon as I am really excited to find something out. I know you must be on your toes. Hang in there, we are all here for you. You will find out soon. I have faith in it. :D

Oh man...I know I haven't figured one out yet though. Will it be bouncing, dancing, smiling, etc. or what? I can't decide.
Yours is coming sooner than mine. Do you have yours picked out? :)
