Hi Gjfst

Sorry for the late reply.
Computergeek gave you the page to go to.

All I do is fill in the form online and then print it off. I sign it and scan in back to the computer and then email it to CIC as a pdf.
CIC will send you a confirmation email.

I have got notes twice and each time I got them in 20 days

Hope this helps

Lab
Yep got it yesterday , thanks anyways. Good to know thats it only takes 20 days.

Any June 2012 got DM yet?

The forms are here: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/department/atip/index.asp

You are making a "privacy act" request (because you are inside Canada) and thus there is no charge. You want "electronic notes" which means they will come from whatever the current computer system is (my understanding is that the goal has been to replace FOSS and CAIPS - the two old systems - with GCMS, but you shouldn't care.)

:-Xi'm confused.. not sure what is Foss for...
does it mean that i can ask them any question if i write them a letter this way? and they gonna give me a legit reply?

FOSS = Field Operations Support System

It's the computer database system they use for inland information. CAIPS was "Computer Assisted Immigration Processing System" and was used for outland immigration handling. GCMS = "Global Case Management System" and is the replacement system. According to OB 471 they are rolling out GCMS 4.0 in fact (and this ties into the new medical forms and processing rules).

You can ask them for information and contents of governmental records and they may choose to provide you with that information, subject to redaction of sensitive information.

For immigration, generally you want them to tell you what's in your file.

Hi everyone,

I got request for finger prints from Cic today. I did send them the finger prints done by RCMP today. My question is, do they always ask for finger prints from inland applicants ? And do try ask for two copies of finger prints ? As they did ask two originals from me. Does anyone has any idea how long did they take after finger prints ?

Thanks

Two is unusual. That suggests they are submitting one set to CSIS and the other to RCMP - a guess on my part, but the reason for submitting finger prints is to do a print based check. For RCMP this is usually because your name and/or DOB matched with someone else with a criminal record (RCMP) or perhaps a security concern (CSIS).

Figure a couple of months for them to complete the check and match it back up with your file.

Ok thanks. Do they send this to other countries to do the security too? They already got my police certificate and it was fine. Hope they wont take long to do the rest process, however now I can work but still having PR is ultimately the goal lol.

Hi

CIC requested my finger prints also. Just one original ink set.
Once they return to your file it can take up to 120 days for results.
They received my prints May 10th but didn't return to my file until Sept. 19th and then sent them to RCMP, so I'm allowing 120 days from then.

Did they ask you for 2 copies?
