so my question is this "one way travel document from the embassy" sufficient enough to get My Permanent residence? then later I just get my passport at a later date?
....so in another word is the "travel document" sufficient to get the PR accepted before my passport arrives? because the passport may take a long time time.

According to the CIC manuals, a travel document is an acceptable alternative to a passport.

they must have valid and subsisting passports or travel documents.

Source: OP 2 "Processing Members of the Family Class" Section 5.1.

While they asked for a passport, a travel document should be sufficient. I would suggest sending your travel document along with a letter noting that you do not have a passport and have been advised you cannot obtain one in the time required by CIC, however you have a travel document and according to OP 2 Section 5.1 that is equally acceptable as a passport.

Good luck!

thank you so much!!! thats what I wanted to hear it sure made me feel better. I was so nervous I thought it might be sufficient but wasn't sure. as you said I will send them the copy of my travel document along the letter and hopefully my new passport won't take way too long in case cic needs it.

thanks again for your help, you are always so quick to help everyone.

Hi dawie south africa. Congrats again on your stage 1 and 2 approvals. Just some questions:
1. Did you apply under spouse or under common law?
2. Did you apply with dependents/kids?
3. Did you do your medicals before sending your pr app?
4. Did you do a rcmp inland clearance before sending your app?

Thanks.

I need to call CIC to change my husband's e-mail address. We are changing carriers and will lose his address. I've never called them before. Do you think that if I have all our information they will take the e-mail address change from me or do I need to get my husband to wait on the phone? It just would be easier for me to do it. I have more time being ...forcibly unemployed and all.

I tried to figure out how to change the email address on the website, but all I could find was the land address and I don't want to change that.

Thanks, Anticipation

Hi anticipation. If you're able to log in ECAS using your UCI, there is a field there which you can check to remove your email address from their list. That means if you check that field, all correspondences from CIC will be sent thru Canada Post regular mail to your home address and not to your email address. This field is located near the log out button on your sponsor's ECAS or your ECAS.

Thanks.

Approval in Principle. It means the sponsor has been approved and now they will examine the applicant. The applicant also qualifies for an open work permit.

We received xxx application for permanent residence on August 17, 2011.

Medical results have been received.

You'll receive a letter from them informing you that your application has been completed and that you'll need to pay the right of permanent residence fee (if it wasn't paid already). They'll tell you to wait to be contacted by your local visa office to schedule your landing interview.

My letter took about 4 days to arrive, so you should get their letter very soon. Congratulations on your DM :)

Hello GUYS! I just receive an email from CIC. Attached in the email there is a pdf. Below is what it said:

"This letter refers to your application for permanent residence under the spouse or common-law
partner in Canada class.
We are pleased to advise you that processing of your application has been completed. The
Canada Immigration Centre in Scarborough will contact you concerning your permanent
resident status."

Does it mean that I got approved for both stage 1 and 2?

Also, when CIC contact me for interview, will they call me or notify me by email? because I dont want to miss the call.

Thanks,
