Hi, I am planning to sponsor my parents to immigrate to Canada. I am a PR since summer 2016 by spouse sponsorship. If I remember it right, my spouse signed an undertaking to be financially responsible for me for 3 years.
He is going to be my co-signer to be my parents' sponsor. When counting the family members in order to determine the min. income that we need. Me, him, and my parents are 4. We have enough income to meet the 4 people's requirement. However, there is a question on the immigration website saying that you need to count the person who is still under the valid undertaking of your co-singer. In my case, which is myself.
Since I have already included myself in the group, therefore I guess I shouldn't be counted as another person who will push the income requirement to the higher level.
Please share your answers. Much appreciated.

Yes you only count once. Just checking that you have no children and he hasn't sponsored his parents.

Thanks for replying. When I need to indicate the number of family members on the interest form, under the section of my co-signer, should I still need to indicate the number of persons that he has sponsored before but still under valid undertaking as 1? Or I just write 0 even though I am the person who he is currently responsible for.

You are filling out the form so you didn't sponsor yourself.

Yes, on the interest to sponsor form, there will be a question asking "the number of family members in your family unit" . The family unit specifies that "If you have a co-signer, count all persons covered by still valid undertakings made or co-signed by your co-signer". In this case, the person covered by still valid undertaking is me.

Sorry misread your question. If it is asking about undertakings of your co-signer yes you are included.

Ok. So it would come back to the question of if I should write 4 or 5 in the family unit number. There are actually 4 people in my family, includes me, my spouse, and my parents. However, my spouse as a co-signer, I am still under his valid undertaking. This would involve double count myself as a family member, since on the immigration website, it specifies that I should count myself, my spouse, the people who I am sponsoring for, and the number of the persons that my co-signer still have under valid undertaking.
