Hello

My husband and I are trying to decide if we should apply for and "inland" or "overseas" sponsor.
I lost my status in September 2010 and I didn't apply for a restauration of status in November because I thought I was going back to Mexico with my husband ( at the time my boyfriend) but things got complicated and he didn't want to move to Mexico and we wanna raise a family here. We would like to apply for the In Canada process but I don't want to get in trouble when they find out that I don't have status. I now that the CIC website says that a person with status can be sponsor by family or spouse but then I'll be staying with out status until the fist stage of the process when I can get an open work permit, right? But do they always give the work permit?.

If we dicide to do the overseas, can I stay in Canada with out status until I'm require to go back to Mexico?
I think the process es faster overseas, but is I really?

I hope some one can help me!

Thanks

You must be Canadian citizen in order to sponsor him to Canada from Mexico or anywhere outside Canada.

For spousal sponsorship in Canada, you must either be citizen or PR.
