We got passport request a few weeks ago, sent the passport right away. Today we got an email that medicals expire on 7/25 and that we need to redo medicals As well as pay the right of permanent residence fee which was apparently never paid (when it was.)

i’m completely lost for words as we have quit our jobs, put in notice at the house and everything. What do we do? Someone please explain what the hell this is.

You will have to write a letter of explanation telling your complete situation to ircc through web form or you should call ircc first maybe this email is a glitch

Our lawyer emailed ircc and asked them for a 20 day extension on our medical (supposedly thats all we need for them to issue COPR) she explained that we have quit our jobs and gave our landlord the notice.

We’re praying they give an extension, if not we will simply need to redo medicals on the already VERY SHORT timeframe we have. Its honestly crazy how vienna office can make an “Error” and we need to pay for it. it’s their fault for not checking that medicals were expiring soon before sending the PPR.

We didnt use the webform, our lawyer contacted the vienna office directly (thats where our app is being worked on) and we’re still waiting for a response.
The reply usually takes 2 weeks i think you should ask for your application number and uci from lawyer and should contact it by yourself because i have seen lawyer are too lazy to tell you same thing happened in my case

Our lawyer always sends us what she sends them, and when they reply she sends it the same day. We’ve known her for 10+ years so our case is very different from yours.

It wont take 2 weeks as its an urgent matter, they also only have a 10 day deadline.

I'm a bit confused.

Why wouldn't you just re-do the medical? Landing (COPR) date is tied to the medicals. If you redo medicals, then you will be given a much longer landing date and there will be no rush in quitting your jobs, giving your landlord notice, etc. That's why IRCC has asked you to redo medicals. To give you a much longer time to land.

Yes, it looks like the fact yor medical was expiring was only identified once you sent in your passports. However I would personally just get the medicals done so that I have way more time to land.

Maybe I'm missing something.

GREAT NEWS! They replied just now to ask if we’d be able to travel to canada by july 25th (thats when medicals expire) and our laywer replied right away that we can fly on july 6th.

Praying to god they issue copr and send the passport back right away.

Most would have not been able to land in such a tight timeframe which is why they asked you to extend the medical. The Vienna office was trying to prevent you from having your passport stamped and then emailing the office to say that you couldn’t move by July and could your extend the COPR which is rarely possible. Glad it worked out but her office’s intentions were actually genuine.

Yeah i get that. But we’ve basically done everything and are ready to fly even the next day. We’ve told them we can fly by the 25th so hopefully they respond soon saying they’ll stamp the passport and send it back on friday.

i‘d think they would do it quick knowing we need to leave by 25th
