No, the appeal decision you have now will not help you. As ashia says, wait a couple months and then write the OERC and ask them to check again. If you don't do that, when your COPR comes, they will still make you wait 3 months.Panamai said:I'm hoping that with the appeal letter in hand showing I have been "living" in Ontario all this time, they'll give me OHIP right away. According to the letter, I've met the residency requirement (having lived in Ontario for at least 3 months), I just haven't met the requirement of being declared eligible by CIC for PR. If nothing else, I have an Ontario driver's license issued in September 2014 that proves I've been living here since at least then. Without these things they just assume you only arrived to Canada when you landed, hence the 3 month wait.
If you come in October, get your driver's license ASAP. They will accept that as proof of residence, but you have to wait 3 months from that time anyway, so I'd only apply after 3 months has passed from the time you arrive.Sharcan said:First of all Thank you to all for the info, especially you bartjones! ;D
We are still in early stages, spousal sponsorship app outland rec'd on July 13, but certainly want to get all the info we can before we move. We are moving in October to Ontario and we will be waiting out the decision there...I am trying to get a bit of a timeline to get the written refusal letter to send on to OERC...am I right to think it would be good to wait until around the end of November, beginning of December? That would be approx 6mnths into our process. We have a pretty straightforward case, going through Vienna(hubby from Germany).
Also maybe someone can anwer me this...we have 2 children born here in Germany, 3 and 5 now, and 2 weeks ago I applied for their Proof of Canadian Citizenship, I have dual german/canadian citizenship. Does anyone know how that would work with them being OHIP covered? Will they have to wait the 3 months when we arrive in October or would I be able to apply now for them already?
TIA!!!
No. They will look at the date your driver's license was issued and calculate 3 months from there to determine residency.ashia said:Driving license? I still didnt get mine, as i am waiting for some documents from Poland. Why asap? Do i have some time only for it?
