Yes, for inland a AIP letter is required to apply for OHIP as it is the first stage approval.
As noted earlier in the thread, for outland a AFP status is needed amongst other requirements to apply for OHIP.
For those following this thread, I'm happy to share my spouse(outland applicant) received OHIP based on SOWP, SA letter and Ontario driver's license. No AIP required as the SOWP clearly states that the application for permanent residence has received first stage approval.
Hi Abuliman. First of all for sharing a recent first hand experience to this forum.
for OHIP is this the process you followed:
1) Applied "Outland sponsorship" for Spouse while they are overseas
2) spouse arrives here and you applied for SOWP
3) Received OWP
4) Applied for OHIP
5) Received OHIP
Is it right process ? Did you file an appeal with OERC or did Service ontario straight away accept your application (for OHIP)
Also, how much time did it take you for the whole process, points 2 to 4 above?
