Dear Seniors,

I am in the process of submitting my PR application next week from Canada.

Since Buffalo office will be closing down, which Visa/Immigration office - Buffalo or New York should I be selecting going forward ?

Please advise.

Thanks.

This chart still says Buffalo.

So, even though the decision has been made, it has not yet been implemented. Until then, I think you have to select Buffalo. But you can keep checking here for updates -

Thanks Jes. I too checked the chart but just wanted to be sure enough before sending in the application. Will keep a check on the updates as well.

New info has just been posted, but it doesn't address the issue of visa office selection.

This is confusing, does this mean our applications process will slow down now?

Actually it does.......if you check this link http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/offices/apply-where.asp and scroll down to canada, it is mentioned that for new applications the visa office is CPP-O

Now, whether that is a good thing or bad.....only, time will tell

That is a very bad surprise. So the new office that will be handling our applications is Ottawa?

Hmmm.... what it says in the Operational Bulletin is that applications currently at Buffalo will move to CPP-O, but it doesn't say that future applicants should select CPP-O as their visa office - too bad they couldn't have made that clear...

For better or worse, CPP-O has been very quick at processing ....

I sent my application to Sydeny a month ago and I had Bufallo as the chosen office to handle my application. Do you think my application is still in Canada and willl be eventually sent to Ottawa now since Bufallo is closed?

Thank you

yes

Look under the column titled "Applications for Permanent Resident Visas" . For Canada, CPP-O is the visa office.

Thank you for your help. I hope this is not going to slow down the process.

I did look. Obviously, as of now, future in-Canada applicants should now select CPP-Ottawa.

But my comment remains the same - Recall that in the news article, they stated that the Buffalo office functions would be transferred to the NYC Visa Office. So it's too bad that the point was not made clear in the Operational Bulletin - in the OB, it states only that applications currently being processed at Buffalo will be moved to CPP-O. It does not state which visa office future applicants should select.

Also note what happens if you go to this page and click on CPP-O :) Error....

With that being said, would it be our files have already been transferred or more likely they will be in near future to Ottawa?
