QUESTION #1
If you are found ineligible to sponsor, indicate whether you want to A. Withdraw B. Proceed

Lets see what everyone put and your reasoning/experience

I checked off B. Proceed

Reason: I got all the sponsor eligibility assessment question correct and I wasn't found to be ineligible based on that checklist.

Withdraw. If they for some reason found you ineligible you're going to be throwing money away if they keep processing the principal applicant's portion.

Same here. Withdraw. You can expect a refusal at a later stage if you still want to proceed after being found ineligible.
Thanks for the responses. I thought of that too, but then I weighed the money with the chance of having my husband with me and there is no price tag for that...lol

If sponsor is found ineligible, then when the app proceeds it will eventually just be rejected and you'd need to go through a lengthy appeals process or start the app again from scratch much later on.

A quicker process is to select withdraw, and if sponsor is found ineligible you just fix the problem and re-apply immediately. So it's actually the quicker way.

The ONLY possible reason someone should ever check "proceed", is if they know they are ineligible to sponsor and want to go through appeals process to challenge it.

It's not just all about the money. You can save time by withdrawing the app after they found out that you don't qualify as a sponsor. If you withdraw, you'd want to know what's wrong and correct that mistake, then apply again.
Well I figured if there was an error with the application that's irrelevant to determining eligibility they would send it back just the same, eg. a form not having a signature. That wouldn't make one ineligible and I doubt they would proceed but rather send it back just the same for correction and not having to start the entire package from scratch again.

The question is not relating to errors, it's if the sponsor is found ineligible. If they find sponsor ineligible and app proceeds, it would be a big waste of time since the app will end in a rejection and you will waste processing fees.

As long as the sponsor is indeed found eligible, really in the end it wont matter what you put for this question.

Agreed. Selecting "Proceed" if the sponsor is ineligible is just a waste of time and money.

I'm using a consultant who was a CBSA employee whose job for 32 years was to review these applications and approve or reject them.
My consultant said to click "proceed" because if it gets rejected for a simple mistake you made you want the ability to fix the mistake.
