Hi Qorax,

Need your advice. Am a 2004 applicant.....medicals done in Sept 2010. Passports (both recent & expired) also sent in Sept 2010 with RPRF. Receipt obtained. No news after that. Should I go for CAIPS? Have mailed them a couple of times. Reply is the same background checks being conducted.
At this juncture will CAIPS help?

Thanx

Hello saggit,

1) Is there an option of paying the 5$ online? Or cheque / draft are the only options?

2) Also, if it is so simple and low on charges (just 5 CAD) to get CAIPS notes from the official site of CIC then why do people go through other options like caipsnotes.com or lawpoint.ca etc etc? Is there some added advantage in doing so? Although it seems we only pay more when we apply through them instead of the mere 5$ through CIC website!!

Please enlighten me on this. I am thinking of sending a CAIPS request asap.

Thanks a ton,

BhaktiUjjwal

How to fetch the CAIPS thru friend/relative [in Canada] ?

Under the Privacy Act, one of our friends/relatives, who reside in Canada, can order the CAIPS under our authorization. There is a CIC fee of only $5 to be incurred for that purpose. Here's what we should do:

1. Download the form here: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/pdf/kits/forms/IMM5563B.pdf
2. Fill the specified colums/fields, viz:
- a) Visa post [ND, Buffalo, London etc.]
- b) Your File number [Bxxxxxxx]
- c) Date of Birth [applicant's, not the rep's]
- d) The requester's Postal address [Canadian Address only]
3. Tick the box "for CAIPS Notes request" on the form.
4. Enclose copies of the rep's [not yours] PR Card/visa/COPR etc. [Canadian ID].
5. Attach the Consent Form [signed by each applicant for "use of a representative"].
6. Enclose a Money Order/Draft for $5.
7. Send (Mail or Courier 'only') all the documents to:
Citizenship and Immigration Canada
(Access to Information and Privacy Coordinator)
Narono Building 360 Laurier Avenue West, 10th Floor
Ottawa, Ontario K1A 1L1
Tel.: (613) 957-6512
8. Your CAIPS Notes should return by 4-6 weeks [usually].

Hello Staralihaider,

As you know I had apply for CAIPS & my BF'D is 12 July 2012.
But I have get this information when our file was RBVO. Now our status is In Process since 8th Feb 2011. Shall I need to apply again CAIPS? Please advice...

Thanks
Munni

Hi staralihaider,

Thanks for the info. I did get this from the various other posts made on this thread.

But I specifically wanted to know about the two things I have mentioned:

1) We can pay the $5 only through cheque / draft / MO, and not online?

2) If this one from CIC website is so easy, why do people choose lawpoint.ca / caipsnotes.com / any other internet-based services? Is there some added advantage in doing so? Whereas it seems it is only costlier ($25 / $30 etc) against the $5 through CIC.

Thanks,

BhaktiUjjwal

People choose different web sites only because this is the easy way to pay online and get pdf file and they dont know anyone in canada so this is the reason people choose these sites.

If you know someone in canada and 100% sure for this that he is a reliable person and will get your caipsnotes file then go for this 5$ option. Time takes for caipsnotes file is 40 to 70 days.

I can provide you someone number he do this same 5$ option. He can tell you the process and he is a pakistani resident. I am sending you his number plz check your personal message.

You can ask any questions on this link also.
