Looking to connect with folks who gave IELTS in US. I gave mine from Teaneck, NJ. Any fellow testers here??

I took it in the US on April 8. I got a passage on sydney fish market in general reading, which seemed quite challenging. Writing task 1 was about writing a letter to the editor in regards to incorrect information and task 2 was about the use of electronic devices.

I got the same test. Sydney Fish Market was quite tricky. In the last answer, I ended up writing:
Fish, Chips, Sushi ;) ;)

I'm guessing that's wrong, because someone mentioned it should be Exciting recipes.

How did you do in Speaking? My topic for part 2 was about describing a speech you saw or heard. I don't think I did very well there.

I had Sydney fish market to, i'm a native English speaker and that was hard as freaking nails.

I didn't get which decade correct and for that last answer I can remember the precise text but it started with 8 something.

The true, false, not given was tough as well.

No way am I getting 34/40 on that one.

For the time off work section, what did people write for the answer about having time off to care for a relative or ..... I put "Child" - I didn't put new child as it mentioned new child but then also went on to talk about a fostered child as well.

I got the decade as 1980s. What did you out in the last ques? The one where they asked what they do to get customers in at the restaurants.

The other one I also put Child.

I put new child and the last question is lower fat

I put new child. The passage about sydney fishing market was the worst part of the test across all 4 sections.
I was confused between recipes and health benefits for the last one and before I could write my answer, time was up. My wife also took the test. She put 'exotic recipes'.

My answers for T/F/NG (Don't remember the right sequence)

Focus shifting to tourism - False
Weather is important - True
Traders used to collaborate in the past - NG
Local Europeans buying more/less than Australians - NG
Factors such as weather affect consumer's price - NG
New method increased the sales of different varieties of fish - NG
Diversity of fish market affected the sale of local fish - False

i dont remember it reference new child for the fostering though.

The true false not given were the hardest part for me by far.

I'm going with celpip next, a lot easier format for me.

Focus shifting to tourism - False
Weather is important - True
Traders used to collaborate in the past - NG (True)
Local Europeans buying more/less than Australians - NG
Factors such as weather affect consumer's price - NG (True)
New method increased the sales of different varieties of fish - NG
Diversity of fish market affected the sale of local fish - False

I had couple of different answers for tfng, I marked in ur brackets.

First question, I put Child.

In listening, I lost track during third session, talk about temp work or work abroad. I hope I get at least couple of them right. Anyone remember the answers???

Hi All,

I am taking the IELTS next week in US. Could you please tell me if you mentioned any location where you want the IELTS organization to send the scores. I think they do it for free.

Thanks,
Sayed

If you're giving IELTS for applying to Canada Immigration, you don't need to select any location. You will get a report at home, which you need to keep.

If my memory is correct, my answers were:

Focus shifting to tourism - False
Weather is important - True
Traders used to collaborate in the past to keep the price high - True
Local Europeans buying more/less than Australians - NG
Factors such as weather affect consumer's price - True
New method increased the sales of different varieties of fish - NG
Diversity of fish market affected the sale of local fish - False

Also, for the last question, I put "Exciting Recipes" without any conviction whatsoever lol.

Now that I think about it, I put child instead of new child, because the reasons included a new child, new spouse's child and a foster child.

In the listening,
I put 'to expand her experience' as the reason, I believe. I don't remember the other questions and answers in that section.

I see that both AlliBatista and rj16 had two different T/F/NG anwers from mine. That concerns me. I was really trying for clb10, having missed it by .5 the first time.

I put NG for 'Factors such as weather affect consumer's price', because I thought the passage only talked about the trading rate of fish, not consumer's price. Maybe I didn't read it well enough.

I eventually wrote Exciting recipes after long struggle....

That seems like the right answer, few more people I asked had the same answer. I had doubts because that answer was not listed in the paragraph I was looking at (very last). But people said "chefs prepared exciting recipes" meant this could be the right answer.

13 days feels like a long wait to get the results :-[
