IELTS - General or Academic

Can someone suggest which category of IELTS do i need to appear in for immigration purposes. I am an engineering graduate and want to apply for Canadian immigration. Also how long does the IELTS remain valid, like i take a fresh IELTS and send the result alongwith the application.Now my application takes more than a year top process.In that case, can they ask me to have a fresh IELTS.Should we appear only when asked about it or while applying, attach the IELTS along.Please suggest. Thanks

Take General and when you submit your file to CIO, Sydney, Canada for FSW, the date gets locked and your IELTS certificate will be accepted.

Follow the check list strictly when sending forms to CIO. Additional sheets can be added due to space constraint.

General is enough. Send it along with your application; once you send it then you dont have to send again even if your process takes more then a year to compleate.

Both General and Academic IELTS are accepted.

General is more easy.

If you have enough point, you can send initial application without IELTS result.
you can send IELTS result with Full documents.

You have not taken IELTS yet then do not worry about expiry of IELTS.

Dear Visa Expert,
I have not taken the IELTS yet but require minimum 12 points to qualify (to make a total of 67).So dont you think it would be better if i secure enough bands in IELTS first and then float the application.A safe move.Please suggest

Yes, you should take IELTS first before sending intial application.

You are on border line. Do not take any risk.

You can take IELTS more than 1 time to get required result.
