I had sponsored my ex-common law partner in 2018. They received their PR in 2019, so the 3 year undertaking has been completed. However we have split up and I have married a U.S citizen. I was wondering if I could sponsor them as spousal, even though the other sponsorship ended only a few years ago. I am a born Canadian citizen. I read on one and only website that you must not have sponsored someone else in the last 5 years, however I have not seen this rule on any governmental site.

I think you will be OK. I think you can sponsor after 3 years. The 5-year rule is only applied to the spouse who you sponsored. So your Ex cant sponsor someone until 5 years after landing as a PR
