i am the sponsor and I just recieved an email with the aor. I linked my app and it says that they don’t need a medical exam or interview and they are doing background check now and spousal eligibility.

Is it weird for them not to ask for medical?

Also they had my husband fingerprints from while back when he applied for visitor. Is this a new procedure? I am happy he doesn’t need medical not sure if this is a glitch ?

I called automatic phone status and on there says medical not needed

It will change. It always says N/A or Not Needed until you reach that point in the process.
You will get a medical request as usual. All PR applicants must do a medical.

The good news is that for Spousal, the medical is just looking for communicable diseases etc, you are exempt from excessive demand restrictions so it should be simple.

My understanding is that it will say medical and biometrics not required until they actually send the request. It says the same thing for our application. It also They will eventually send you a request for those things. He will need to get his biometrics done again, this is from CIC's website:

If you’re between 14 and 79 years old, you need to give your fingerprints and photo for all permanent resident applications. Even if you already gave us your biometrics and they’re still valid. This includes:

Anyway, my advice is to just sit tight and keep an eye on your GCKey/email!
