I need urgent help. In tears about possibly lying on my application.

So I’m applying for PR under spousal sponsorship. When trying to take my spouse to the doctor in canada ( i’m a US citizen), i slid through a stop sign and got a “failure to yield” ticket that i paid. I did hit someone, but the accident was not serious. Literally, we both drove away. I told the officer about my immigration, and he said it shouldn’t affect it. My FBI rap sheet was made before the accident , so I turned it in… and trusted the officer (which someone told me i shouldn’t have done). now i’m worried. i already turned in my PR application and i checked no on any criminal offenses made. i’m just really afraid because now they’ll say im lying once the background check AFTER the medical goes through, no? I’m an idiot. Should I call IRCC and let them know about the failure to yield ticket? I just thought everything would be fine since it was in canada and a canadian officer was saying “it’s so minor it probably won’t affect it”

You're NOT an idiot, simply overwhelmed by what is undoubtedly a very scary process for most of us. You're good to be concerned, but...I suspect this is considered a motor vehicle incident, NOT a criminal offense. If you would like to contact IRCC to mention this, it's your call but I don't think you need to mention it at all.

thank you! i was just worried since i got a ticket during the accident it was my first ticket in my lifetime so i wasn’t sure
A traffic ticket is far from a crimal charge. Don't worry. Unless you get ticket because of DUI, then it's a different story.
