Hi,

I traveled from Canada to my home country for a brief period. I left Canada on 28th Dec 2012 and reached my country on Dec 30th 2012 (Local time) as per stamp on my passport. So how do I show Dec.29th on my application?

1. I can show it as time in transit (needs extra line in table) from Canada to India OR
2. I can show that I lived in my home country from Dec. 29th and write a note that actually I reached on Dec. 30th in my home country so if they ask for passport later I have a reason.

It doesn't make huge difference, as time from Dec. 28th will be counted outside Canada anyways. But just want to be accurate.

Please respond ASAP. Thanks in advance.

DOES CIC has any guidelines for such a situation?

date of departure can be matched with your ticket ,as CBA does has the same record as well. so be accurate

I had the same situation. I have mentioned the exit date as the date I've left Canada (in your case Dec 28). Don't worry about the Dec 30 stamp in the passport as due to the timezone difference this will happen always and the officers will understand. And the entry date will be the date you reached Canada. The residence calculator will automatically count the days you are out.

You don't need to show the time in transit separately. Just one line in the Res Calc for the entire trip will be sufficient. And just mention your final destination.

Thanks for the answer.

Its not residence calculator that is creating issue. Its my 4 years history that is creating issue (with address and dates). How do I show a day (which address) that is spent in Transit.?

Hi

Canada Address - Date on which you left Canada
Other Country Address - Next Day of the above
Other Country Address - Day before your Canada re-entry date
Canada Address - Date on which you re-entered Canada

This should be enough for the address

Your Residence is calculated based on the Exit/Entry Dates in Canada
CBSA may not be interested in the Immigration Stamp date of your other country [assuming no high deviation]

why do you want to enter it as 4 year history in the application? why don't you want to enter it in Residence Calculator?

Did you leave Canada and moved to india and made india your primary home?
If not did you have home in Canada and just went to india for few days?

Are you talking about the section 6E where you mention the address in past 4 years? If you are out of the country on a vacation for few weeks, you don't need to show that in this section because your primary residence is still in Canada. You just need to mention your absences in the residence calculator.
