I have 2 questions as mentioned below :

1) If I get ITA via PNP, then it's compulsary to stay in the province from which I got PNP, or I can work and live anywhere in Canada.

2) I am married, and when i try to calculate CRS points with my wife coming along, and with not coming - my points are higher, If I go single to canada. So, I am thinking that first I should go solo, and then bring my wife once , I settle there.

but my query is, to bring my wife separately, I need to follow process of express entry and all, or otherway around is there..?

Please suggest me way out for this, Thanks in advance

The Constitution allows you mobility rights to live and work anywhere in Canada. But it is advisable to try and settle down in the province which nominated you for a reasonable amount of time (say 1 year) before moving to another province. Else the province may feel that you used them only to get into Canada and might initiate legal proceedings against you. They are unlikely to win such a legal battle but that is the last thing you would need in a new country.

You can choose to list your spouse as 'Not accompanying'. In such a case, you will have to apply for spousal sponsorship after you land in Canada and that process can take anywhere from 12-24 months.

Please suggest me way out for this, Thanks in advance

While checking CIC website today, I found two more options to do ECA for immigration purposes:

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/skilled/assessment.asp
Designated organizations for ECAs
You can get your assessment from:

  • Comparative Education Service – University of Toronto School of Continuing Studies(CES)
  • International Credential Assessment Service of Canada(ICAS)
  • World Education Services(WES)
  • Medical Council of Canada (professional body for Doctors)
  • Pharmacy Examining Board of Canada (professional body for Pharmacists)
  • International Qualifications Assessment Service(IQAS)
  • International Credential Evaluation Service(ICES)
ICES:
http://www.bcit.ca/ices/eca/

The estimated processing time for an ECA is approximately 8 weeks from the date on which all required documents are received in our office.

Service Fees

Standard Service
$200.00 per educational credential. Including:

Two original credential evaluation reports – one for the applicant and one to submit to Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC)
Secure electronic access by CIC
Postage to cover standard mail

Additional Copies
$20.00 per evaluation report. Including:
One original credential evaluation report send directly from ICES to any recipient.
Postage to cover standard mail

Courier
Domestic Courier within Canada: $26.00
US and International Courier: $75.00

IQAS
http://work.alberta.ca/Immigration/educational-credential-assessment-for-immigration-purposes.html

https://iqas.work.alberta.ca/eca#/

The current IQAS processing time for an assessment is approximately one month after all required documents and payments are received; times may vary based on the volume of applications.

Fees
Application fee: $200
Courier fees: to an address in Canada: $15; to an address outside of Canada: $75

Anybody has done ECA from these institutions??

Where does it say that in the mid-year report?

If you're referring to that table, it show the number of applicants in the EE pool and not the ones who were given ITA.

Hi Asivad Anac,

I am considering to apply with my wife, but she has a bit of weak English, and might score less in IELTS. Please let me know, how much is minimum band requirement for her, as I will be principle applicant..

Thanks in Advance.

Spouse IELTS is not mandatory so there is no minimum requirement. If they are poor in English, they are likely to score at CLB 5/6 (less than Band 6 in each section) and that would get you a maximum of 4 additional points.

False rumours.

Next time you get a call, ask them for a website reference to support their claims.

Hi Asivad,
I am doing my ECA from WES.

I have contacted my uni. and they said that they will verify my marksheet and Degree certificates(also give sealed envelope), but for Academic transcripts, i need to contact my college.
My college is ready to issue Transcript, but WES is not accepting it from college(mentioned on WES site).

My dilemma is, does academic transcripts required at all, if Degree marksheets and certificates are verified and sealed by UNI.?

Thanks

Transcripts are simply authorized copies of mark sheets. If your University is able to provide that duly attested by the designated authorities and enclosed in a sealed & stamped envelope, that should suffice. You wouldn't need anything from your college.

Thanks Asivad Anac..

I have bechlor degree, so I need to verify only bechlor degree for ECA, correct..? buy My wife has done BCA and MCA(Masters in Computer Application), so Do i need to verify both of her degree, or just masters(MCA) for ECA?
Interesting question.

In my case, I had a integrated undergraduate Masters (Master of Computing from a UK University). WES came back saying in my case, this was the equivalent of a Canadian Bachelors AND Masters. Again, even if you have this degree, the assesment may be different depending on modules you have completed etc.

So maybe just the Masters needs to be assessed. BUT, I think its best asking WES that directly, unless others have had direct experience of your situation, but even then it may vary from degree to degree. And as I said before, it even boils down to the specific modules you did in your degree.

Always air on the side of caution. And people here can only advise on the best of their knowledge. We are not CIC, so whatever answer is given might not be correct. But WES is a recognised organisation by CIC, so their advice might carry more weight. So I would ask them directly, as I have yet to find out a way to ask CIC any questions directly. Anyone else have thoughts or disagree?
