i would just like to clarify: if i get the international driver's license, there is really no need for the 'letter of authentication' and 'true translation copy'? the international driver's license is all i need to apply for a G2 license?

The IDL allows you to drive for first 60 days in Toronto
But the LOA allows you to waive the one year waiting period.

Let me add one more country which is Australia, if you have a Australian license you can get the Ontario license straightaway, this is a new agreement recently came out.

I am having Australian D/L since 2008.I obtained it almost 3 yrs back.I have got few documents to prove the authentication like original D/L,Learner permit test result,hazard perception test result,license assessment score sheet.At prsesnt I am not leaving in Aus.I am planning to move Ontario in Feb.Do I need any other doc to obtain full license in Onatario especailly i'm worrying about this document -the written authentication of driving experience from the originating licensing agency, or from the Embassy, Consulate or High Commissioner’s office representing the jurisdiction,.

How can I manage this paper? Is this one very essential?

also, pls advise- once i take G1 license(after i clear the written test), can i still drive on my int d/l or i cant. i heard that one we take the g1 license and waiting for the g road test one cant drive on int d/l.

Hi,
1. You can drive any car including rent a car
2. It is true Int. D/L will be invalid after getting G1, but you can drive on G1 if accompanied by the G2 or G license holder driver

BUT IN CASE I STILL USE THE RENT A CAR AND GET COUGHT BY COPS ..CANT I TELL THEM THAT I HAVE ONLY INT D/L AND GET AWAY..

1. The IDL permits u to drive ONLY a "rented vehicle".
2. Technically HMISABPK is right... but the Cops'd let u go if u feign ignorance.
